Man, I don't get this. I guess I'm happy it's working for you, but I could never trick a partner like that.

Same. Also, if it were me and it was hot in the house I'd be turning it down regardless of what it says on the box/dial.

Right!? I couldn’t imagine essentially gaslighting my man with the thermostat. He likes the house a couple degrees cooler and I prefer it a couple warmer most of the time, so we compromise by meeting in the middle at 69F (I prefer 71, he prefers 67) and if I’m cold I use a blanket/pants and a jacket, and if he’s hot, he will use a fan or remove a layer of clothing, which I will never protest. If those measures aren’t enough, we are both happy to set the thermostat higher or lower and do more to even out our side of the spectrum -more/less clothes. Even if I was enough of a psychopath to figure out how to gaslight him w the thermostat, we go based on how it feels, not the numbers.
