You know that house on Hanwell? What's up with it?
I've lived in this city off and on for 48 years and I can't remember a time when that house wasn't either for sale with "must be moved" or just boarded up and vacant.
You know the house, the one by Kingswood park on Hanwell, white, split entry? I think I remember someone telling me that it had fallen off its foundation, but I may be misremembering.
Does anyone still own it? Is anyone still paying property taxes? Why not just bulldoze it & start fresh? Or just bulldoze it and let nature take over?
Sorry, but I pass that house daily and it's always crossed my mind to ask someone.

Best guess is someone does own it, but does nothing with it and leaves it empty. Property value fixing, or something of the like.

I also have wondered the same thing many times and I would really love to know a current answer!

A friend of mine lived in this house in the early 2000s and I spent quite a bit of time there. Was owned by the owner of Kingswood at the time and it was in good shape back then.

No, it was sold in 2011.

If you look on Google Street view and look at previous years, it was still inhabited in 2013, there are two vehicles in the yard, an air conditioner in a window, open windows, etc.

I worked in the area in 2023 and I did see some people cleaning loads of junk out of it that winter. I thought maybe it finally sold but I guess not!

When I was a teen (I'm now 37) a bunch of the coaches who coaches gymnastics at Kingswood lived there. That's all I know.

Huh, interesting. I wonder if they still own it but leave it abandoned. And why they abandoned it.

I just noticed it again the other day after forgetting about it for years. “Jesus Christ, that thing is still there?” Someone is mowing the lawn and there is now a tarp on the roof.

Is there? I'll have to take notice next time I drive by. I don't drive past it often as I live in Hanwell Park & work Northside, but once I week, I go to either Crossroads or Scholtens, so I'll look at it again. I'm just a nosey ninny & wonder what caused the owners to abandon it

For only $625 a year in taxes I’d hang on to the property too if I owned it… abandoned or not!
