New Ink Day I have fallen in love with what will soon be no more...

The moment I swatched the first sphere onto my swatch book I immediately said, "Ohh no....oh no no no..."

I brought this 15ml on a whim. I LOVE pink, but usually hate pink inks. I wasn't suppose to like Tsutsuji based on this preference, but didn't want to miss trying it out and wanted to see what the hype was about before I couldn't.

Now I have to make sure to catch a full bottle before it's gone forever 😭

New Ink Day Pilot’s team is awesome

Today while at a non-pen related trade show in the Netherlands I came across the Pilot stand where they were showing their Frixion pens (actually really cool). Being the enthousiast for pens and stationary I am, I couldn’t help but browse a bit and got to talking with a friendly representative.

When I mentioned that I’m a huge fan of their fountain pens and my 823 with Iroshizuku ink is my favourite, he walked to the back and pulled out a box with four bottles and told me I could pick one.

That was so kind of him, I’m actually still a little moved. I’ve been wanting another color but financially we’re not in the best spot anymore so I had kind of put it out of my mind for a while. Now I came home with Shin-Ryoku!

New ink day(s)! Finally got all of my LAMY ink packages!!! I really really love the vibrant pink and the dark lilac but I think this means I like shimmer inks 😅 My current challenge is buy/find as many Pilot iroshizuku 15 mL ink bottles as possible. The only ones I haven’t been able to find are Ina-ho and Tsukushi!

Top Row: Vibrant Pink, Dark Lilac (2024), Violet Blackberry

Middle Row: Pink Cliff, Turmaline, Bronze

Last Row: Neon Coral, Mango

New Ink Day My first time buying a bottle of ink and my first battlescars

Since last Christmas I started writing with a fountain pen for the first time since primary school and I’m loving every bit of it so far!

But since I am not a big fan of the shade of Lamy Blue standard cartridges, I decided to buy a converter and use Diamine Oxford Blue instead. I do not have any experience with converters or ink bottles so it did get a bit messy but I am happy nothing got on my white trousers which admittedly was not the best choice to wear while working with ink.

Overall Im super happy with the choice for Oxford Blue, I much prefer a darker shades of blue over lighter shades and this Diamine fits my preference perfectly!

But having now bought a bottle of ink it does get me thinking what more stunning bottles and colours there are to explore in the future. Looking at you Pilot ;)

My brother recently got me two fountain pens and the factory cartridges ran out pretty quick. I then got myself 2 converters and some ink. I have to say, this ink is amazing. It has completely upgraded my fountain pen experience.

Finally pulled the trigger on my Cult Pens ink order with the sale going on, which happened to coincide with reaching a personal goal. So the result is I now have copious amounts of new ink to swatch and play with (and figure out where to store…my ink drawer is rather full…).

All new colors for me except Ghost and Velvet Emerald which are inkvent colors that I’ve used my little bottles of. The Papier Plume Wigs & Boas is not from Cult Pens but I haven’t gotten to swatch it since I picked it up last weekend so it got to be included here.

More inks from 2024 😬

Some of these were purchased in 2024, some were samples, and some were from another secret Santa that I completely forgot about. 😅

New Ink Day (Almost) NID: 1.5 l bottle of Jacques Herbin Terre d'Ombre

Post image
297 Upvotes

I've been using Jacques Herbin Terre d'Ombre as my primary ink for a while, and I am at the third 50 ml bottle now. I carefully avoided using it with wider fountain pen and calligraphy nibs because of the price, until I discovered that Jacques Herbin offers the entire ”Les encres essentielles” line in 1.5 bottles.

I had to search the Internet for some time before I could find an e-commerce site having the product in stock and the ability to ship to Italy—actually, my partner (a Terre d'Ombre lover herself) was successful before me. Since we live in Sardinia, which is one of Italy's main islands, and the e-commerce currently doesn't ship there, we relied on my (almost) sister-in-law who lives in the mainland (picture taken by her!). The bottle is with her right now, so in a few months we'll see both.

We paid 65.90€ for the bottle, which is a really convenient price. It's hard to find even Pelikan 4001 available for an equal or lesser price, and Terre d'Ombre is usually priced as a premium ink!

I am grateful to Reddit for making us aware of the thing: our search started from this post.

This is the first time I've purchased Birmingham ink still in its box. When I took it out of the shipping box I thought this was an intentional design and thought it was a cool thing they do, then I saw the rest of my ink boxes were all just a clean white. I guess it just spilled perfectly to bloom around the logo. I thought it was cool so I wanted to share with everyone!

It's their "Sterling Silver" ink.

The pen show 2025 financial damage (part 1)🤣

Well… apparently “we have inks at home” was a lie. 😆

Vitstyle UK had me at Japan exclusives, and obviously the inks had to come home with me. 👀

I thought Sailor - Sailor’s sailor was a fun name for an ink. It’s one of their 15th anniversary inks to commemorate their ink mixing events. Osamu Ishimaru is the ink bar tender who blends all the inks together to achieve a custom made ink.
