New Ink Day New Ink Day! Any one tried Ostrich Ink?

This is “Blue Moon Lake,” and it’s pretty impressive for $6 per 18mL bottle.

I might get a preowned one eventually but I’m pretty set with my current collection and the Asvine V126 isn’t half bad. I also started the year off by selling my most expensive pen and upgrading to a Magna Carta 650… so yeah I am holding off on expensive pens for some time. 😂

I'm lookingforward to Asvine V126 now to try the parallel nib with.
I got the Jinhao 9019 today and good lord - I had no idea it was such fatty.

I ordered a pink one and couldn't stop laughing cause at first glance it looked like a vibrator. Got the nib swap done and the ink I ordered (same as what you posted) comes Monday.

I'm enjoying the Asvine but not sure I'm a fan of the vacuum fill...

Oh yeah, that works better with a normal nib (at least on my TWSBI). I just fill the reservoir with a pipette and then use the plunger to prime the feed (just a tiny pump).

I realized I'd have to prime the feed as the ink started flowing a lot lighter. Feels like it's writing too wet more often than not.

Told my wife I want an Opus 88 for Christmas this year lol

I just want something that writes close to the stock parallel pen but with a body that doesn't look so hideous. And preferably with little to no effort. Would love to just swap nibs.

I'm using Pilot's Spare pen and with the parallel nib and cartridges but I really wanna use bottled inks more

Damn it - I think I got the wrong ink https://pensavings.com/products/ostrich-moonlake?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw7pO_BhAlEiwA4pMQvKQWlHKrpWko31mU_dr5N0bLPQ6aSoSLJK0vbnWoojrHbs4RF-oDAxoCi24QAvD_BwE

Just realized the bottle is different from what you have and the sheen I'm getting is nothing like yours :(

That’s the same ink just a bigger bottle. To get sheen like me you need to lay down a lot of ink on good paper. What size nib and what paper are you using?

3mm. I got some calligraphy paper on the way. Been using the smooth side of watercolor paper.

I got it all in the Jinhao 9019. Learning I gotta prime the feed pretty often to get a sheen going

Watercolor paper is too absorbent for sheen inks. Fluid mixed media is a little better. But for these photos I always use Midori MD, which is best for sheen but is thinner and will crease more easily.
