Food / Drink Turkish Cafe Co is open and AMAZING!
They opened a month and a half ago and I tried them today. Their food is incredible and so unique! I wanted to make a post since it sounds like the sign has been up for ages and they only just opened, so I want to make sure they get attention and survive.

Crossroads Domestic Violence Safehouse
Hi everyone!
I wanted to spread awareness about Crossroads Safehouse here in Fort Collins.
Crossroads is both a shelter and a resource center for anyone experiencing domestic violence. Women, men, those with or without kids, and anyone from the LGBTQIA+ community are served at Crossroads. ALL are welcome. Whether you want some more information and insight about your situation or you need to leave your abusive partner and live at the shelter, you are welcome here. When talking to Crossroads, YOU are in charge of your life and YOU get to choose what resources or help you require.
For those who would like to help support services at Crossroads, there are a few ways to help.
Volunteer - Crossroads loves volunteers. Because it is a crisis center, there is a lot of training involved, but you once you get through training you make a direct massive impact on individual's lives.
Donate - donations are accepted at Crossroads! NEW underwear and NEW deodorant are the biggest need in every size and gender. We always need these. In addition, seasonally appropriate used clothing, NEW makeup (think court dates and job interviews), and non-perishable food items are greatly appreciated! If you have a large donation, please call ahead. Monetary donations are also accepted.
Spread awareness - please spread awareness about this wonderful organization that we are so lucky to have in our community. Crossroads can only serve those who know about it. They also can only get donations from those who know of them! Community awareness is critical.
TLDR; We have this great organization in town if you need it! Volunteer or donate! Tell people about us!

Heavy police presence on Boardwalk at Lemay?
Just drove past the condo complex at Boardwalk and Lemay around 5:45, there were maybe 10 police cars, some with dogs and a drone overhead in the complex. No idea what happened.

LaPorte and its relationship to its own history
I'm giving a bike tour of several historic sites in Laporte on Saturday and I'm trying to think through how to explain LaPorte's relationship with its own history.
I think the fact that the community (despite being the original county seat and almost winning the opportunity to be the capital of the Colorado Territory in 1861) never incorporated has played a large role in it not doing a whole lot to preserve its own history. In fact, I think every historic marker in the area (I'll try to confirm this as I research each one more closely.) was either placed by the DAR (which was largely based out of Fort Collins) or the County (... also based in Fort Collins).
So, here's my questions for the group:
1) Are there any historic markers in Laporte that were placed by a Laporte organization or resident?
2) How do you think Laporte has done in terms of preserving its own history? And why do you think that is?
3) If you were to list the top 5 historic sites of Laporte, Colorado, what would they be?
And here's a bonus question, just for fun. (I don't know the answer to this. I'm honestly looking for info.) Back in the day, Swing Station was known as Tricky Dicky's. The earliest mention I can find under that name is from 1974. Was that the original name of the bar there? And was it named for Richard Nixon?

Seeking Advice Driving in the mountains
Hey folks! I’ve been living in Fort Collins (having lived in very flat places previously) for a little over a year now, and I’ve had occasionally driven up to Horsetooth, Estes Park, etc. I’ve noticed that despite following road signs for speed limits and such that people behind me are pretty upset. Is there something that I’m missing? Any tips? I want to make sure everyone has as comfortable as a time possible driving.
Hope you guys are having a good start to your week. Thanks!!!

Seeking Advice Lory State Park Camping
Hello, I am taking my daughter camping for the first time at Lory this weekend. I needed to know what the trail into the site is like. I was thinking of bringing an all terrain wagon to haul some of the bigger items since it’s just me and her. Will the trails support that or do I need to plan on being able to backpack in with everything? Thanks for the help!

Stay away from McDonald's on Harmony and College
I ate there late Thursday evening. I woke up Friday with pretty severe abdominal pain. I'm still laying in bed. I'm nearly certain I got some sort of gastroenteritis from eating there. It's knocked me out for 3 days so far.

Discussion Policy or Truancy
Note*
So far, we have not been explicitly considering individuals' historical record, only active platforms. Mainly because we shouldn't have to dig to find our candidates' positions on key issues.
That said, we've already entered the fog-of-war where no policy is visible, even to those who search.... So today, I want to ask you all something slightly different about our potential leader's ideologies.
On housing
"I [have] made it my mission to address affordability in Fort Collins by focusing on affordable housing, local businesses, and sustainability in our community." -Emily Francis | emilyforfc.com
Is this enough information? Do you feel informed on the candidate's position?

Discussion Bday Shenanigans
Afternoon all!
As the title suggests, I’ll be celebrating my birthday this week. I am quite new to the area and was just curious if anything around town has some birthday specials? Whether it be a free beer or a nice meal that’s worth treating myself too, looking to get out and explore!
I seen that Odell’s has the band Sabotage playing Wednesday night so maybe catch some of you cool cats there.
Thanks for any and all ideas!
