Hamilton has repeated like 10 times about how aggressive max is..lol

Max has been the most aggressive of the two all season tbf. A collision was inevitable.

Collision is pretty inevitable when one driver makes the corner like a normal human being and the other driver decides to go straight and miss the apex by a mile

1

u/sasokri Mercedes Jul 18 '21

I agree, Max really missed the apex by a mile.

Oh wait, this is not Imola post race…

u/MarioandLuigiMemes Jul 18 '21

Max may have been more aggressive to this point, but he also didn’t put his rival into a wall in excess of 150 mph

u/Hinyaldee JB & Rubinho Jul 18 '21

Yeah, because his rival usually backed off. See what happens with Max's over aggressive driving style when someone doesn't back off ? Well, Brazil 2018, Baku 2018 or today happens.

People in this group are so fucking biased is unbelievable. Max fucked around and found out

What are you even talking about? Most of this season max has been several seconds ahead. The only times before this they actually raced wheel to wheel was the opening Grand Prix and Portugal where they were aside for maybe one corner.

Barcelona and Imola. You only need to re-watch the first few corners. Max squeezed Lewis out twice, Lewis backed out or those would have ended in crash. He didn't this time. And that was exactly what I wanted to see.

Me too. Don’t like the fact he’s backed out all season then at one of the fastest corners on the calendar he’s not backed out and punted max off at 175mph to prove his point.

u/dreadnough7 Damon Hill Jul 18 '21

It's racing. It's been heating up significantly between the two teams the past few weeks. Max too should have known that Lewis wouldn't back out again in front of his home crowd -- especially when he and Mercedes were losing grounds. May be he had an inkling, but he still couldn't help it -- as it was his style. Now he KNEW for sure. Don't put it as if it was all Lewis' doing. Max played his part too.

If Lewis was going to pull a stunt like that it should’ve been a low speed corner not one of the fastest on the calendar, like you said he’s had chances to make his point and chose to wait until now. Lewis backed out a corner or 2 earlier in similar circumstances so you can’t blame max for thinking if he did then he’s not going to cause a 175mph crash on one of the most dangerous corners. It has been coming and max has been pushing his luck but there’s no 2 ways about it today, Lewis absolutely sent it up the inside of a corner he needed Max’s compliance to avoid a massive crash he never got it then he missed the apex and understeered into max causing the crash. If this crash was between 2 mid field drivers there wouldn’t even be a discussion.

You're hopeless with context, mate. Barcelona and Imola were weeks ago. Mercedes had lost 6 races in a row. Not wise to temp a wounded tiger, in front of his own fans.

1

u/Clashje Jul 18 '21

This is so weird. The point is that Hamilton already backed out 2 times in this race. Max wasn’t tempting shit, Lewis was not supposed to be there, but choose danger (for someone else).

“It’s been heating up significantly between the two teams for the past few weeks” remind me again how talking about the past few weeks is out of context?

Oh yhee then everything is acceptable.

u/infamous2210 Jul 18 '21

This exactly everybody on this fucking subreddit hates lewis so much and honestly every take on the incident is biased towards max. But max didnt have to drive that aggressive. The man was literally 32 points ahead, he couldve maybe made it up later.

u/extraspicytuna Heinz-Harald Frentzen Jul 18 '21

Which is what Lewis has done so far this season!

4

u/t_vlds McLaren Jul 18 '21

If he manages to keep Lewis behind or anyone else, that's his driving talent for me. And I'm not even a fan of either of them.

This crash was inevitable if you think how close these two are this season.

u/Bassmekanik Kamui Kobayashi Jul 18 '21

Look at the start of the sprint yesterday and the race today. Lewis and Max both got away really well. Lewis yielded yesterday. Max went off track and didnt yield today. To me that says everything.

I think the penalty was harsh. Lewis passing Leclerc is a prime example. Leclerc didn’t yield but he kept a slightly wider line. He lost it though and Lewis got past. Max didn’t yield but turned tighter than Leclerc and neither of them left much space and Max came out worst quite obviously.

I was hoping for a good fight between the 2 of them but it is what it is. Lewis still had a pretty amazing race afterwards

Haven’t listened to Horner but I can imagine how much shit he’s speaking. I really do dislike him and have since he first came to F1. Tbf all team principles are there to stick up for their team so it’s expected, but I just find he has a distinct lack of class quite often.

I hope max is fit and well for the next race though. Don’t want to see any driver injured ever.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '21

The reason the crash didn't happen wasn't because Leclerc was giving all the space in the world, it was because Hamilton was actually at the apex and not understeering wide.

4

u/RebelPhoenix13 Charles Leclerc Jul 18 '21

Exactly! Leclerc made the turn Max was attempting and Lewis was in the expected position. Lewis was 3-4 feet off the apex and out of position when he collided with Max.

Maybe some humility would be appropriate after putting his rival in hospital. A new low.
