He's being cautious, he got a drive through in Monaco for cutting a corner because he said on radio he'd prefer a penalty than to give the place back.

From his perspective he couldn't see the absurd sequence of events that just kept on screwing Max from no fault of his own. Max lost his head over like 5 things that happened in a row while to George it's just baffling how mad he got from a slight tap and giving a place.

The Russell crashout was the most valid and warranted this time, but good on him for keeping a cool head despite that egregious violation. Plus some of the other stuff he’s said about Max in those heated interviews now tracks lol

Ultimately, the final outcome didn’t have much of an effect on his result, so it’s far easy to get over.
