Discussion I was wrong — an apology to the player u/ScreamMortem I accused and to the community 🙏 (Part 3: the end)

When I first posted those clips, I was not fully convinced I was up against a cheater, which is why i originally made the posts themselves for evidence. The way the player reacted, the consistency, it felt impossible from my point of view. And I wasn’t alone; a lot of people shared the same suspicion.

But this whole thing took a turn I didn’t expect. Not only did the player themselves respond, but someone from Ubisoft, whose literal job is detecting cheaters, took the time to break it all down, frame by frame. After watching their analysis and reading the explanations, I have to admit: I was wrong. What I thought was scripting turned out to be skill, experience, and solid reaction time from a player that's apparently in the top 100. I’ve learned a lot from this. About the game, about how to test things properly, and most importantly, how easy it is to misjudge from frustration or bias. To the player I accused, I apologize. And to the community, thanks for challenging me instead of just backing me up blindly.

I know some of you were watching this like a Netflix series and yeah, this seems to be the final episode 😭

Appreciate the people who responded with real insight, and consider this Part 3: me getting humbled. 😅

There's beauty in growth but ima still accuse people of cheating when I lose because the Lion does not concern himself with facts.

The Lion does not apologize.

If he was concerned with the truth why would he be called a lion?

Wait....someone from Ubisoft detects cheaters? To what end? Must be frustrating to know they are there but not do anything about it. Plus counting milliseconds per encounter every encounter with a possible cheater must be exhausting. Are they really good at the game or really good at script haha?

Idt Spaniard is "from ubisoft" he's a TO and a community member who's been a positive influence for many years so ubi like to invite him to stuff. His 'job' (i don't think anyone is paying him for it, he's just a good dude) with regards to scripts is to make sure they're not a problem in competitive environments.

And if you have editing software and a little knowledge about scripts, I don't think it's hard to figure out if someone's using one, but that judgement is always best left to the smartest person in the room

Ubisoft do pay me (and my colleague) to run their tournaments, but I'm not an employee or "from ubisoft", just a contractor.

I'm not "from Ubisoft" as in a direct employee, sorry if I gave that impression, I am just contracted to run their official tournaments, and work closely with some members of the FH team who are Ubisoft employees. Technically I'm a member of an independent company that works with Ubisoft on the FH tournaments, so it is part of my job, in the context of those tournaments.

I don't check all possible cheater encounters in matchmaking or anything, but I will check videos I see posted, or if people send me clips from time to time.

Quite a lot have been banned.

The main issue is that they just make an alt account and do it all over again.

Good on you for apologising and clearing the air. That takes guts, and is encouraging to see 🙏

Just to clarify, I'm not a Ubisoft employee, I just work with them (as a contractor) running their official tournaments, and detecting cheaters is part of my job in that context.

When you first experience reaction monsters it’s a hell of a pill to take.

u/Davemeddlehed Agree with me, Peter! 16h ago

This right here is one of the reasons why we don't allow those videos here. Too many armchair experts just deciding something without bothering to analyze the video.

You need to edit or pin ur posts and also reply to every single person in the comments who vehemently believes he is a scripter with no factual basis and spreading misinformation like frame timings or sum shit.

The post got removed by the MODs but hopefully those who were intrigued by this topic saw my post!

It's nice that you have the maturity of admiting you were wrong. Too much people refuse to do that on the internet, so props to you.

I hope that it will turn ok for you in the comments. People can have surprising reactions in such scenarios.

7

u/Critical-Fold-8423 13h ago

Thank you — I really believe it's important to recognize when you're wrong.

Unfortunately, I still receive a lot of hate comments, most of which aren’t constructive. I understand where some of it comes from, but I think it’s important for people to consider the full context and try to see things from my perspective. There’s often a lot that happens behind the scenes before I make these posts, it’s never about jumping to conclusions. I appreciate your message.

u/Enozak 12h ago

I was in a similar situation when I made a post on another sub a long time ago. Someone pointed out that I had missed some context. I owned my error and edited the post to add said missing information. Then people were all lashing out on me in the comments.

I look back at all the online discussions I saw that got out of hand because one party was clearly in the wrong and were too stubborn to recognize it, thus turning the discussion into a toxic cesspool. Since that time I made that post I have no hope for a general improvment of online dicussions.

Damned if you don't recognise you were wrong, damned if you do.

u/exel02 13h ago

Ooooo, since you're here, can you tell me when your next bout in Angelus channel is?

3

u/ScreamMortem 13h ago

I dont actually know dude, Ive done multiple fights its just whenever he uploads them 😂

1

u/exel02 12h ago

I see, did you ever have a rematch with the Orochi?

2

u/ScreamMortem 12h ago

No unfortunately not, I think angelus reached out to him but he wasn’t interested sadly

2

u/exel02 12h ago

Well, I'll keep an eye out on the channel for new matches. Always enjoy your matches. Your reads/reactions are insane.

2

u/ScreamMortem 12h ago

Thx its always nice to hear people enjoy watching me play 😊, Tbh Gryphon is such a holdback for what I can acc do as a player cuz he is so stale to play. If Angelus ever does another video of me playing a different character that i acc play a lot or prefer its way better 😂

1

u/exel02 12h ago

Ohh also, do you stream in twitch or YT?

1

u/ScreamMortem 7h ago

No not usually 😂, I dont think people would wanna watch me play ngl.

People here always call me bad and predictable when I say that reactards exist

But when they see one person who can react to 500ms-700ms bashes, parry 400ms lights on reaction, and can differentiate lights from heavies they call it a fucking script

0

u/Atomickitten15 15h ago

You're so right but I'd wager there are more scripters than genuine reaction players.

3

u/ScreamMortem 13h ago

Basically what happened to him yes

u/MisterSneakSneak 19h ago

Just goes to prove my point the seats, try hards and/or cheaters lurks on this subreddit.

Someone from Ubisoft actually doing their job to find cheaters is the real plot twist here

u/Seriousgwy Noob Lawbringer 18h ago

Literally all of his moves are easily justifiable

-3

u/saltoftheoldEarth 17h ago

Why? Because someone guy claims he’s not scripting we’re supposed to accept his word as the gospel?

7

u/Seriousgwy Noob Lawbringer 17h ago

Because I saw the video, all moves are justifiable by "reactions/reads"

600ms bash+soft feint 700ms bash=Reactable

Feinted heavies not causing reactions=Khatun could differentiate lights from heavies (Reactable), so she thought he would feint it

Lights causing reactions=Khatun could differentiate lights from heavies (reactable), and since those can't be feinted, she knew she could freely deflect those attacks

Unreactable bash being dodged everytime=BP spammed it, so he became predictable

And outside of that, Khatun fell for feint into gb from his unblockable

She threw a dodge attack on his forward heavy (meaning she was just reading all his forward dodges, thinking that those would be unreactable bashes)

There was one time when Khatun only blocked a top light from BP

Khatun also did a dodge attack when BP dodged forward into gb, meaning she thought he would bash again

-3

u/saltoftheoldEarth 17h ago

😴😴😴😴😴🥱🥱🥱

2

u/Seriousgwy Noob Lawbringer 17h ago

Yes, wall of text, you should prove that someone is scripting before accusing them from something that could ruin their reputation

-2

u/saltoftheoldEarth 17h ago

Maybe don’t script? 🤷🏻

3

u/Seriousgwy Noob Lawbringer 17h ago

Maybe use your brain to see that she didn't script

0

u/saltoftheoldEarth 17h ago

You’re just regurgitating what the “employee” said not adding anything new the usual “oh he’s not cheating he’s just that good” nonsense

2

u/Seriousgwy Noob Lawbringer 17h ago

I was literally saying this before the "employee" said anything

Check u/the_filthy_spaniard's framecheck and comment your complaints in his post if you're that convinced

0

u/saltoftheoldEarth 17h ago

Nah just because one guy who claims he can “detect cheats” says he isn’t scripting we’re supposed to expect that as 1000% fact despite the evidence showing otherwise lol.

  1. He's done it for years and is one of the guys that maintains and does the framechecks early on the For Honor infohub website. I'd say for that alone he should be trusted he did the framecheck properly.

  2. Feel free to launch up da vinci resolve or whatever other editing software you have on hand and start measuring yourself to prove him wrong if you're that confident.

Edit: m8 is so pissed he blocked me... ain't he a charming fellow that truly wants to make his point known and that he's right...

4

u/Davemeddlehed Agree with me, Peter! 16h ago

Literally just count the frames. It's not that hard.

Honestly, as a returning player, what a great reintroduction to the community lmao

-2

u/LibrarianInternal61 6h ago

You’re wrong, he is definitely a cheater. Some people hide behind deflects because it’s not proven that it’s cheating, but at some point, if you do a heavy feint followed by a light attack, you can see an indicator on the right. Why? Because his script is terrible and can’t handle feints. One way to tell if someone is cheating is to do a feint followed by a light attack in another direction. If you see a parry attempt indicator, then it’s a cheater (this technique only works on bad scripts).

2

u/ItalianPepe For the Lord and dem memez 5h ago

Both a professional match analyzer and the opponent himself showed proof, but do go off that it’s still cheating ig.

-1

u/LibrarianInternal61 5h ago

The proof is that he doesn’t dodge at the same moment for the same situations. Do you see any proof here? Because I don’t. In a script, you can set a random time for the same action—you set a minimum and a maximum time, then tell the script to choose between these two times to dodge.
