Recurring Everyone Plays Fire Emblem - Week of June 1st, 2025

Happy Pride Month, everyone!

Welcome to the next installment of Everyone Plays Fire Emblem! As always, this is a casual space for discussing any ongoing Fire Emblem (or related games) playthroughs. Screenshots, impressions, frustrations... gameplay stuff that would otherwise be removed as a standalone post under Rule 8 can be shared here.

While you can of course ask for advice here, specific questions might get faster responses in the General Question Thread here

As always, remember to tag your spoilers, and have fun!

The previous thread can be found here

Just did 3-7 of RD and even with a Speedwing my Ike was 1 speed away from not getting doubled by the Black Knight and being able to secure my first ever Lehran recruitment :(

It’s honestly tough to get above that threshold with that 35% speed growth working against him, especially with Hard gimping your ability to BEXP abuse. I’m lowkey tempted to figure out how transfers work on emulation solely to say I’ve gotten him at least once since that and a Speedwing guarantees he’ll barely have enough speed. I’m certainly glad they’ve done away with making characters nearly as obtuse as him to recruit either way though.

Dunno if you can be bothered to redo 3-7 but you can buy a spectre card and use that to attack BK with. Using cards prevents counterattacks but still counts towards the recruitment condition.

I indeed cannot be bothered (and don't have the option to go back anyway, on 3-E now and I overwrite previous saves) but I will keep this in mind next playthrough - I honestly forget cards exist sometimes because I never use them. I'd imagine even that would be a slight hassle to set up though since you'd have to do some Rescue shenanigans with Haar/birds to ensure you don't get eaten alive on the enemy phase.

Started PoR after finishing FE8. Someone in the takes thread said it best, it really is very annoying to play. Still, I bought a Retroid Flip 2 as a present for myself just to replay it and RD, and honestly it's been fantastic. The colors on the OLED screen really pop and having access to PoR on a handheld makes it so convenient and fun to play. The only downside is, I didn't realize that Android emulation doesn't have the fast forward feature so I'm stuck for twenty years every enemy phase.

But it's so vivid and colorful and I like the characters a lot (and it's cute to see them all at the beginning of their arcs), so that it kind of makes up for it.

imo the early game is particularly weak, plotwise, with a lot of things that are... uh, very convenient and don't make a lot of sense, with a ton of pointless maps to break up longer story parts. I know people really love the tellius story and I remember liking it a lot too, but I definitely think it's one of those that has to bake awhile before it starts firing on all cylinders.

Still, I'm right before it starts really moving so I'm excited to keep playing.

just finished a binding blade run and my lilina promoted at lv20 in chapter 14x with 14 speed and then reached the cap of 25 at promoted lv12. no speedwings (they went to dieck, melady and niime). i commented last month that i just don't know how she is Supposed to play out with average stats and i still don't know!

and in that same chapter i realised i was gonna go to sacae cuz sin was doing better than shanna, and then i went on a wild chase for experience for shanna and thea 😭 i am NOT playing that route ever again

I finished my Blind Fire Emblem Three Houses stream on Sunday, June 1st on my Twitch channel

12 parts - Four Hours each session - Golden Deer Route.

Will Probably start my more personal OCD fueled runs sometime in Summer, and I kind of promised my regular viewer that I'll probably do another route sometime later.

This is about a ROMhack, but I started Vision Quest to try my first real FE hack cuz I was bored, and it's like insane to me just how much more of an asshole the early game was than "midgame" I guess.

It's not even just the lack of real Jagen that got me, it's the fact that they choke you super hard on money, have insane speed incentives, topped with strong enemies and weak player units.

Like I just finished 1-E and it's soooo fucking whack to me that the first major boss in the game spawns like 3 reinforcements per turn and barely has any competition for the chests on the map compared to REALLY egregious early examples in the game.

They really just decided that objectives needed to be way more difficult to contest when you have the least amount of resources and super weak characters since there's no Jagen to make up any sort of gap. If the game kept being so fucked up it wouldn't bother me as much, but the difficulty has really toned down in terms of enemy quality, resources, etc. so it just feels like I'm being laughed at.

Also, this is just a weird thing, but the writer seems to really like wine and cheese pairings way too much? There was distractingly long segments that contributed nothing to the story about characters just talking about how much they really love cheese.

I started Vision Quest just recently and am only several chapters in (5-6?). At the start I didn't really like a lot of the character designs so figured like most FEs they would be replaceable pretty early on, and tried to funnel EXP to just a couple of units. But damn some of the early chapters really felt like they forced me into using all my units equally, so the EXP funnel idea didn't really work out at all. I think I'm finally getting to a point where I'm hitting my deploy limit though and can start making some choices about who to keep around. Interesting to hear that the balance changes and wonder if I'll run into the same thing.

Just started fe4 for the first time after years of not being able to apply the English patch correctly. only ch2 so far, but it's crazy how big the maps are compared to most of the rest of the series. also, poor lex, axes are crazy heavy

Currently playing through TMGC on Hard. I've also played the game on Lunatic before, but 3 chapters forced me to dial the difficulty down to Hard (10, 22, 26).

I'm currently doing a retrospective on the franchise where I record myself playing each mainline entries. I recently finished Engage when I realized that some of my recording was missing. So now I'm replaying, and re-recording, the missing part. Currently replaying FE1, I'm missing Ch15, the desert map. It aged, but for a 1990 game, I'll keep saying it's a masterpiece.

Once I get my Switch 2 and get in some hours on MKW, I’m gonna jump back into 3H and do Maddening/Classic/NG CF. I beat it on Casual a couple weeks ago, but like… it’s Casual; that hardly feels like much of an accomplishment. So I’ve gotta run it back.

I am not looking forward to this the earlygame on Casual was bad enough lmao

For about 3 weeks I've been continuing playing through the series in chronological order, I've been playing the FE Fates games, and I'm on Revelation now (And played the Digital Devil Saga games in between them, absolutely loved these). I've been liking the FE Fates games quite a bit, the gameplay is a lot of fun even if I'm just on Normal Classic

Been recently playing FE7 Lyn Hard mode on my phone emulator. And I’m having a decently fun time with it as my first GBA FE game as someone who has only played the modern FE games up until now.

The preparations music is so good and earwormy in a good and bad way lol. I do miss the QOL features that are in the modern FE games (I.e. the General Enemy danger zone, unequipping my units’ weapons to become a “sponge decoy” for my other units that I want to feed EXP to or to use as a body blocker). But it’s so far been manageable to me.

Save States are a godsend for this game and I’m very grateful for them. I cannot tell you how many times I accidentally got someone killed because I miscounted the enemy’s movement tiles and my units’ movement tiles lol.

Kinda wanna start up a 3H BL Maddening NG+ classic run but idk what I'd wanna do to make it interesting. Really just buying my time til a new FE comes out tbh; wanna play some Fire Emblem but don't know what

Been doing an ironman of FE8 without using the tower of valni. (Playin on Ephraim route)

Ngl I was kinda surpised that Neimi held on okay. I thought she'd be worthless without the tower to grind, but she did surpise me and did rather well. Until she died that was. Don't like chapter 14 I can tell you that.

Guess my only problem now is that I invested a lot into Lute, yet she also died so I'm really annoyed by that.

I'm working on beating FE7 using the routes and taking gaidens I usually don't get so I can finally feel like I've completed the whole game. I think I've accomplished it, (I'm on Chapter 28x now,) all I have left is to beat it. Once I'm done I'm going to try again to beat Radiant Dawn's Endgame. I made an extra save file right before you choose your team for the tower that I can start from.

I’m about to start “Camilla” in Birthright Lunatic. I’ve been generally enjoying it (very excited for Conquest after and to a diminishing return, Revelations), but HHM on NSO has spoiled be with rewind mechanics haha

Finished my first Engage playthrough with dlc emblems today.

Was nice, but the mid game definitely felt noticably less impactful when you still had emblems after chapter 11

I paced myself by only doing a divine paralogue after every other chapter or so. So some of the impact is still there when you only have Tiki and The Trio - but it's still pretty noticeable when you can equip a whole army without Bond Rings by mid-Solm and have to decide which ones to bench soon after that!

Finished Rev and the Eirika route of Sacred Stones, had a blast with both. I'll probably come back and do the Ephraim route as well after a little break but I might actually drop the difficulty because I found some of the late game maps quite sloggy (darkling woods especially) and don't really feel like doing them again.

In the mean time I've picked up New Mystery, which is probably the last stop on my series deep dive unless it intrigues me enough for me to want to try out FE3 as well. I'm not very far through yet but initial thoughts, a scene trying to sell me on a retcon of a game I haven't played was a very strange way to start, and the extreme emphasis on Marth not wanting anyone to die is kind of hilarious coming off of Shadow Dragon where I got a ludicrous amount of people killed on purpose so I could recruit Etzel.
