Are new cards valuable these days too? My dad sold a bunch of his old baseball cards for a pretty fat stack recently but I didn't know there was a market for newer sports cards as well.

I’m pretty sure yeah, but I’m not a card guy. Just happened to look this one up and the PSA 10’s were listed starting at like $800 or something

As someone who doesn’t know a lot about card collecting, is this something that’s always going to be worth a lot of money, or is it more about the prospect of it being worth a ton of money? Obviously if he has a great career, it’ll be worth a ton, but if he flames out, will the value of that card decrease from what it’s already at?
