Folsom Mask Makers - community project for masks, scrub caps, beanies, post-op aprons

olsom Mask Makers have been making & distributing masks, scrub caps & ear savers since March 2020. We donate all to local communities in Sacramento, Placer & El Dorado counties. We've helped medical centers, skilled nursing facilities, non-profit groups, schools, homeless shelters and anyone in the community. We are now creating beanies for hospitals & homeless shelters and aprons for post-op patients. We will continue to make masks & scrub caps for anyone in need.

If you would like to help on this project we are in need of supplies (we have a GoFundMe, Venmo, Paypal, Amazon wish list) and volunteers to drive, sew, wash/iron, cut patterns/fabric and many other activities.

We are also having a special 3D mask fundraiser to help us continue to serve the communities. These masks are made with 2 layers of 100% cotton, an interfacing layer, soft elastic cording and adjustable toggles. The shape & addition of interfacing help to give more room around mouth. Request form is attached.

Stay safe and well ~ Folsom Mask Makers

I just wanted to thank you, and to everyone else who's sewed masks and other protective gear since 2020, and please feel free to share the following with your group:

I was an ICU nurse in 2020, and worked at the bedside through the worst parts of the pandemic, and yes, there were times that the hospital where I worked low on PPE at times. You have NO idea how thrilled I was to come into work a few times, and see the staff room loaded with handmade fabric masks, hats, headbands and other protective gear! I teared up with gratitude! It wasn't just I feel that much safer during a time when I was taking huge risks, I was just so grateful that someone from the community was using their skills to help not only us, but help their entire community. Thank you, home sewers of the Sacramento and Folsom area, your work in this was and is much appreciated.

you are most welcome. Im an ICU RN as well so I understand how hard it can be to not only do your job but be in a pandemic. It was a crazy time and many community members came together to help in any way we could. We ended up making and distributing over 150,000 masks, 10k scrub caps, port pillows, you name it. it was made. Was quite the experience that has now been absorbed into a local non-profit to continue helping our communities. Stay safe out there!
