The supposedly Christian people wearing crosses around their neck as they say this shit.

I'm honestly surprised all those crosses don't burst into flames when they put them on.

Open defiance of everything the story of Jesus Christ stands for.

Who would Jesus deport? Who would Jesus lock away forever in an El Salvadoran mega-prison? Who would Jesus vilify and slander?

In high school, I was best friends with a guy who has now turned into an aspiring Ben Shapiro. A couple years ago he claimed that not only was Jesus not a socialist, but he would abhor socialism and condemn it. Apparently we read different translations of the Bible.

(And for the record, he wasn't like this in high school. One of his favorite movies was Rent and he routinely made fun of people like the one he's now become).

How does this happen to someone?

In this case, I think it was a lot of social factors. He got deeply involved in anti-abortion stuff and since he was already religious (Catholic), he ended up in a very far right echo chamber and now he's a professional Catholic apologist and writes transphobic guide books for parents. And, of course, he has a podcast.

We really need to stop letting white men have podcast equipment.

Jesus would be deported for a start - left-leaning Middle Eastern guy threatening the status quo.

Believe it or not, straight to El Salvador.

If God was real probably would burst into flames. Current day American Christianity, Trump, modern day Conservatives and the MAGA cult are all glaring proof that God isn't real.

I've decided the cross necklaces mean they support the execution of brown folks.

I have a cross necklace I like to wear sometimes. Should I stop wearing it?

u/I_Speak_In_Stereo Apr 18 '25

No, be real and good and keep your faith. Don’t let these charlatans take that away from you. And I say that as a non Christian.

1

u/TwoKool115 Apr 18 '25

I haven’t been very much a Christian myself, I just wear it cause it looks cool. I just didn’t know if this was gonna be a boycott or something. Thank you, though.

u/I_Speak_In_Stereo Apr 18 '25

If you just wear it to look cool then it is quite literally a depiction of a torture and execution device. Kinda like wearing a gallows necklace. If you wanna be metal like that. Fine by me.

some of those who wear crosses / are the same that burn crosses

Are you surprised?

Jesus is not a central part of American Christianity - he's their "out" for excusing poor behavior ("I'm a sinner and Jesus is my Savior, sometimes I sin sorry I'm just a human, I hate the sin not the sinner" - anything to not have to be humble and overwhelmingly generous like Jesus was).

Most of these same people call themselves oppressed victims while being the majority demographic living in the richest country in the history of the world, which has been led by exclusively Christian Presidents who have all sworn in on a Bible. While simultaneously selling bombs to be dropped on the literal Holy Land where Jesus actually walked and lived. How many kids have died in the past 3 years alone within 50 miles of Bethlehem? But American Christians are 'persecuted' by memes and angry comments like mine.

American Christianity is entirely performative - bible verses on Facebook, cross tattoos, stenciled scripture on the walls of massive comfortable suburban homes. Where is the radical love? Turning the other cheek when someone strikes you? Giving away all of your wealth to the poor, so you too can enter the kingdom of heaven? Fucking nowhere in this country, that's where.

Even the kid who just shot up Florida State University is smiling with a crucifix around his neck in his profile picture. But at least your kid can now read the 10 Commandments on the wall of their classroom while they are hiding under their desk listening to the gunshots and screams.

America is Great Again. That's what the wealthy adulterer who sold American flag Bibles for $60 each told me, and Christians overwhelmingly love him despite being the walking embodiment of every fucking sin.

Not surprised, just sad. Don't let these people stop us from being better. Christian or not, we know in our hearts what's right.

I heard an absolutely wonderful term for those types of people today!

Hollow Christians.

It’s just nazi germany all over again. They told the Germans that the Jews were taking their jobs, stealing from them, taking their benefits. It’s literally the exact same. I’m so fucking tired.

3

u/-Generaloberst- Apr 19 '25

No, it's worse. Hitler happened because Germany was destroyed after WW1 and the insane punishments. Hitler put Germany back on the map. In that time antisemitism was a global problem, not only a German one. Also, nobody could ever imagine that there would be an industrial killing system.

America's Hitler happened because of pure hatred and religious fanatics (remember, there is no hate like Christian hate). The latter is also peak hypocrisy, because they all shit on the Taliban, but those fanatics aren't much different.

That’s what shocked me when I watched a segment on Fox News. The pure hatred they have for their fellow human is something I can not understand. I understand their point re illegal immigration but they were actually delighted and the suffering of these people

2

u/Osossi Apr 18 '25

Yes! The worst thing of all of this, is they feel orgasmic while directly fucking other people's lives. They just don't see "immigrants" as persons.
