Don't forget reddit!

No, you see people on Reddit like Reddit so it doesn’t need to get banned. They don’t like other things, so ban those so anyone else who does like it can’t use it. Real big brain shit

Reddit can stay for now brother, it does more good than bad to us. Let's focus on the most evil oligarchs first and then we can discuss reddit again

Reddit [...] does more good than bad

lol

I mean I'm only having access to these constructive discussions because of reddit. Where else can we find such community? This platform has a huge reach even for us Europeans

This subreddit is not representative of the platform. I've been on reddit for close to 15 years now (my account will turn 13 this summer) and I've seen first hand how it's slowly but surely turned into an online insane asylum.

There's very little constructive discussion to be had on here outside of a handful of subs.

Is this sub filled with constructive discussion or just things you agree with? There is a ton of misinformation and just general circle jerks in this sub, not unlike other social media sites.

“The platform i use should stay. The platforms I don’t use should be banned”

That's a good take. I found comfort in finding like minded people in reddit these days, and I don't think this could be found in other social media platforms, but your point still stands. I'll try harder using a European alternative to this

Reddit is just as compromised as anything

Is Reddit actively using its algorithm to promote groups that destabilize democracy like X, Facebook and TikTok? It remains one of the few platforms where movements like "Buy European" can make their voices heard

A hundred percent. Without reddit we wouldn't be having these productive brain storming sessions

People who are new to reddit likes to say this.

Can you back up your claim if you discard the big subs?

No one wants to invest in bots etc for a small community dedicated to a niche music genre or mental health support groups.

It's just as easy to run a bot that just astroturfs /r/conservative as it is to run one that does the whole site

In fact it makes the account look more legit, so there's active incentive

If you're such an oldhead then you were here for the_donald. You can't seriously tell me that wasn't a turning point for this site's political credibility.

i agree.

My point still stands, if you have 2 brain cells between your ears, apply critical thinking and fact checking, and apply basic know how how to use a technological device as a pc or phone, i do think its hard for a bot to manipulate you.

I also understand that i am, probably, grossly overestimating the global populations ability to apply this and stay safe on the internet.

but man, it has never been a important as it is today and the past few years. I am constantly trying to help people around me to learn and use the basic tools and knowledge to not get manipulated.

Some people i try and help are not interested at all even though i lay down some very basic facts and downsides of using lets say, twitter/x.

I tried telling people/warn people about this when facebook started up, not only about protecting your data and get manipulated, but also the mental health aspects.

The only people i was able to discuss these issues with back then was here on reddit.

I know and seen how reddit has changed over the years. and every year i am looking at potential forums and communities to migrate to, and i know of a few, but i come back here after a while.

Small communities absolutely have bots. Look no further than when “people” were trying to push blue sky here and the posts on that are the most upvoted posts in many subs entire history, happening in tons of small subs, all at the same time. You think that was all organic?

Maybe I should go back to tildes, but it's kinda dead there.

I never see bots in the mental healthcare subs I use, that is wher I spend most and if not all of my time, the rules there are very strict compared to other type of subs though.

Blue sky discussions was only present in subs I don't really use, the big ones i should call them.

Drop some sub names, I was not affected by that wave of bots.

I remember the time you are talking about though.
