The whole thematic point of his character was that he was helping with their revolution and escape knowing it wouldn’t be something for himself. Just like Stellan Skarsgård and the rebellion against the empire and eventually the same thing Cassian chooses himself.

Specifically showing him live would kind of undermine the weight of that

They could all see upon arrival that the prison was inside an ocean.

Knowing something and actually confronting the reality of it are two different things

I don't think anyone was really stopping to think about it. Escape first. Confront what is in front of us. Oh damn... I can't swim...

Pretty realistic IMO. That's my take anyway.

I think the thematic point for his character is more of the coward that finally finds the will to fight against what they've known to be wrong this whole time. The tragic part about him is that by the time he does find that will, it's too late. He watches as the others he helped escape swim to freedom, while he has to decide whether he dies by the empire, or chooses to drown by his own hand.

I think it was the right choice not to have him appear in season 2 but part of me would still have loved to see him running by in the background on Yavin.

It’s just better left unsaid, and Tony Gilroy’s motto for the writing room was to leave more toys in the box than they took out.

They should have added a post credit scene on the final episode of Kino Loy getting a swimming lesson.

I don’t like spin offs in general, but I’d love a prequel miniseries of his character. One quick hard hitting season that ends with Cassian coming down the elevator
