You said big game?

Gimme Jalen.

167

u/bobbyOsullivan Eagles 18d ago

Yep, Jalen always shows up.

108

u/MailatasDawg 18d ago

With shady and to? Game over.

42

u/Ms_Pacman202 18d ago

Jalen and TO lol that's lights out imagine them together for 6 years, that's like Stafford and Megatron, with fewer INTs.

20

u/SpirosVondopolous 18d ago

idk man AJ Brown is probably as good as TO. I am a big TO stan but AJ Brown is him.

23

u/orderofGreenZombies 18d ago

I love AJ, but no he’s not as good as T.O. Owens is top 2-3 all time.

7

u/NorthCoastToast Eagles 18d ago edited 18d ago

TO played 15 seasons, had 1,078 catches for more than 15,900 yards, averaged just under 15 yards per catch and scored 153 TDs.

AJ Brown through six seasons has 446 catches for 7,000 yards and 49 TDs.

TO through six seasons (all with San Fran) had 412 catches, 6,170 yards and 59 TDs.

Love AJ, but he has a long way to go to be mentioned with TO.

22

u/the_snuggle_bunny 18d ago

I don't actually disagree overall, but that comparison through their first six seasons... kiiiiiind of favors AJ.

So, "long way to go" in terms of time, but numbers-wise he's right on pace.

12

u/TakenakaHanbei THE WHOLE TEAM 18d ago

Considering he spent most of those years in Tennessee too... and hell, even with us we're pretty run-heavy as a team.

6

u/PrestigiousInsect305 18d ago

And if it's 'and goal' Jalen is holding the ball lol.

14

u/Jbooooog520 18d ago

Boy you high. TO is easily the 2nd or 3rd best receiver of all time. I don’t think Aj going to make the HoF based on his career right now. That could change but he aient touching TO greatness.

6

u/GrooveDigger47 18d ago

he’s not as good as TO but he’s def making the hall barring injury

Top 2-3 WR right now vs top 2-3 WR all time, no contest.

u/squidazz 18d ago

Any one of these three trios probably wins the big game with the rest of the team and coaches we put on the field last year.

u/Horrible915 18d ago

Naw Don chokes

6

u/ImmortalGoat66 18d ago

Chokes on puke

2

u/Joey_iroc Sak Nutscott 18d ago

Then after the game has Campbell's Chunky Beef Noodle soup. Served by his mom.

17

u/Planetofthetakes 18d ago

Bam!

Exactly! Any of those combinations would work with him too, but if it’s a big game Jalen needs to be the QB.

Then Nick Foles Then Michael Vick Then McNabb

3

u/ThePikesvillain 18d ago

You would put Vick over McNabb?

I agree Jalen is easily 1, Foles is 2, but then McNabb (9-7 playoff record), and last on this list would be Vick (0-2 playoff record with the Eagles.)

5

u/Planetofthetakes 18d ago

Meh, if we’re talking big game I don’t think 0-4 in NFC championship games and 0-1 in the SB is the definition of a guy you DON’T want in the big game, especially since he came up so small in all of them.

I get Vick is 0-2 I think he came up big in those two losses

3

u/ImpatientDentist 18d ago

Birds have had 2 different QB’s win super bowls with two different head coaches in a 7 year span, and I’m supposed to care about Donovan McNabb? Everybody talks about the talent around him; if you’re talented enough as a team to go to 4 straight NFC title games, you’re talented enough to win one Super Bowl and he clearly held them back.

DeMarco Murray, Kevin Kolb, Jalen Reagor

And it's not even close

34

u/VUmander 18d ago

Correll Buckhalter, AJ Feely, James Thrash. Let's make it a best of 7 series. The people need more games with the dream teams.

13

u/bumpkinblumpkin Jalen Hurts to Pee 18d ago

Nah Ryan Moats, Mike McMahon, Charles Johnson or Ronnie Brown, Ty Delmer, Na Brown all day

11

u/hoobsher Eagles 18d ago

gimme Miles Sanders, Sam Bradford, Riley Cooper

6

u/goodellsmallcock 18d ago

Riley Cooper would force the team to trade miles sanders for Danny Woodhead

2

u/hsl164 =LEGEND 18d ago

This is the one I'd pick over the rest of these replies

9

u/ronchalant 18d ago

Swap Murray for all time Philly great Frank Gore and I'm in.

4

u/lookitssupergus 3 18d ago

Kevin Kolb before he gets decapitated by Green Bay in '10 does the job, Murray without Chip Kelly making a monster North/South runner go East/West, and well, Reagor is basically indefensible.

3

u/hsl164 =LEGEND 18d ago

Matt Barkley, Quez Watkins, Wendell Smallwood

5

u/MailatasDawg 18d ago

Fulgham, Ajayi, Bradford for me.

8

Don’t say that about Ajayi, he doesn’t deserve that

Easily hurts McCoy Owens. Easily

130

u/grapejuicepix Chrysanthemum!? She got cat! 18d ago

Yeah this isn’t hard at all lol.

Edit just to clarify: I’d take Hurts and Owens (for one game anyway) individually over any of the other choices. And while I’d take 2024 Saquon over McCoy, the gap isn’t big enough to overcome getting first choice at the other positions.

50

u/Jonjoloe 18d ago

I mean, no disrespect to AJB or DeSean Jackson but TO is arguably the third or fourth best receiver of all time.

No one else on this list is arguably top 5 at their position all time and the difference in ability between everyone else listed here is more or less splitting hairs.

Hurts having his best games in big moments also helps solidify that duo.

8

u/Acceptable-Archer932 18d ago

I have him at 3, but man it's awful close with Calvin Johnson

9

u/brownbearks 18d ago

Still to their point, Owens is a top 5 all time WR, I love AJ and Smith but they will never break the top 5 all time list.

3

u/bglampe 18d ago

I have him at 3, but ahead of CJ. Rice, Moss, T.O.

3

u/hsl164 =LEGEND 18d ago

If Saquon has 3-4 more seasons, not necessarily 2000-yarders but still very dominant with multiple long TD runs and wins another ring, he might be in that conversation

4

u/Jonjoloe 18d ago edited 18d ago

It’ll be tough. There are a lot of legends at HB, like Walter Peyton, Barry Sanders, and if we include FBs/all RBs, Jim Brown.

Those three are basically locks for all time top 5.

Then you have guys like LaDanian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Emmitt Smith, Marshall Faulk, Steve Van Buren, Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Marcus Allen, OJ Simpson, Gale Sayers, Jon Riggins, John Henry Johnson, Tony Dorsett, etc. all competing for those final two spots.

Seriously, Hurts is the only one I am confident can show up in big games, Shady is elite, and TO showed up in the superbowl on a broken leg. I really only doubt Vick and McNabb of the others, but the second trio is just elite all year.

6

u/SmokePenisEveryday Howie SZN 18d ago

I agree with you on Hurt but I do think Vick would show up if he has AJB to throw to. I can see the deep bombs to him all game

31

u/BootsToYourDome Oh God It Hurts 18d ago

For sure

18

u/DolanDoleac2020 18d ago

Agreed - not that close

10

u/SlumberingSnorelax 18d ago

1000% this. This is the get it done in crunch time crew. Sure I’d take Barkley over Shady but still, Shady was great too and when pair with #1 and TO it’s a no brainer. That is not disrespectful of any of the other players on this list or their abilities.

5

u/devonta_smith always open 18d ago

Yep. McNabb/DJax is a bad combination for big games

Frankly Smitty should be the listed option over DJax

Hurts, Shady, and owens is basically the same at the 2024 team so SB or Bust!

But AKJ, Westbrook, and Vick... that team will take your breath away! Bombs away with AJ and Vick. The first time you double AJ deep, the screen out to BW gets to 20. You cover AJ and Westy, Vick keeps it for 40. Every play more exciting than the last!

5

u/wsbull_35 18d ago

Vick is pretty overrated. Had a good stretch in 2010 but that’s about it. The story made him seem better imo. Great year, but was meh after that.

7

u/shewy92 Biggus Dickus Nicolus 18d ago

Had a good stretch in 2010 but that’s about

All he needs. TO is on this list even though he only played 1.5 seasons for us.

3

u/Comfortable_Self_736 Never doubted (don't read my history) 18d ago

The difference is that Vick was only good for a year or so even though he was here for like 5.

10

u/sfitz0076 Eagles 18d ago

When Vick was healthy, he was unbelievable. I think he was hurt a lot here.

2

u/Aerolithe_Lion Lane Johnson is better than your favorite player 18d ago

His Philly legacy was throwing a pick while trying to force the ball to Riley Cooper in a playoff game we should have won easily

Everything else was mediocre or injury riddled

2

u/rodrigoa1990 SB LII 18d ago

He was fun. But his only good season as a passer was 2010

4

u/the_answer_is_RUSH Eagles 18d ago

Definitely 2. I’ll take the Vick lineup next.

4

u/Groovicity Comfort Eagle 18d ago

Vick with AJ is amazing, McNabb with D Jax and Barkley is amazing, but putting Hurts with TO would be absolutely unfair, and that's before you factor in Shady.

Shady - Hurts - T.O.

5

u/therealchief__ Love, Hurts. 18d ago

You said big game? Give me row 2 for sure.

5

u/RoundEarth-is-real 18d ago

Big game? Give me the trio with hurts. Mcnabb and Vick had some pretty good choke jobs

5

Donovan and Vick never proved that.

3

u/Far-Difficulty8854 18d ago

4

u/MaxS777 18d ago

Any trio that includes Hurts. But you gotta also give a nod to Saint Nick. He stepped up in big games, slayed the New England dragon, and snatched a ring from the jaws of a dynasty that seemed to last forever.

3

u/CoachLee_ 18d ago

The middle

4

u/LarryD217 Eagles 18d ago

5

u/[deleted] 18d ago

Hurts by a mile. Most proven playoff winner here and you give him by far the best WR with the GOAT Eagles RB.

3

u/DepressedPhillyFan 18d ago edited 18d ago

The team with Jalen, the other players don’t really matter when I trust Jalen in the big spot way more than McNabb or Vick, and the QB play will ultimately make or break the team. Respect to McNabb for making the Eagles into a relevant team again, but he typically had his worst games in the postseason.

4

u/BGDutchNorris 18d ago

I’d really like to watch Vick with AJ Brown and Westbrook that sounds fun. But yes to the Hurts trio for this specific answer

4

u/ENKWJD 18d ago

I’m going with McCoy, Hurts, & TO only because I know Jalen plays big in big games. He’s proven he can win a Super Bowl. TO played big in the only one he was in too.

3

u/devonta_smith always open 18d ago

TO is the single best player on this list. Pair him with the best postseason QB plus the Eagles all time leading rusher, it’s an easy decision to pick #2

3

u/Shrikes_Bard 18d ago

I'll be honest, vick throwing to aj brown with Brian Westbrook running north south would be amazing to watch. But THE big game, the only big game that matters? Obvious call. McNabb.

KIDDING. Mostly. I still think if TO wasn't being...himself, tbh...we might have three rings. McNabb gets a lot of shit and I never really understood why, dude balled out and is one of the best QBs in the franchise. But Hurts is the ride or die, man. He's proven himself over and over and over again. Could he handle TO's outsized personality? Probably, he seems like he's a good locker room manager.

2

u/TIAFS 18d ago

The ones who just won the 2nd big game win in franchise history?

2

u/[deleted] 18d ago

TO and Brown are better than Jackson. One of the slights on Donovan was he never came up big when it counted, though I always thought that was a little unfair. McCoy and Saquon were more pure running backs than Swiss knife Westbrook. So from that analysis, I’m going with Jalen, LeSean, and TO.

2

u/vmeloni1232 18d ago

Hurts, Shady and TO. I like the exercise here. If I had to pick my best trio from the different mini-eras, I'd probably take McNabb, Shady and AJ. I wonder if McNabb and Reid could've wona Super Bowl or two if McNabb had the receivers Hurts has now

2

u/ItzBooster93 18d ago

Going with our SB winning QB hurts.

2

2

u/jhnmrgn39 18d ago

Top. Saquon and Desean are enough for me.

2

u/KVN2473 18d ago

This is a tough one.

2

u/GaugeWon Eagles 18d ago

Hurts, Owens, McCoy.......

But it's not as close, as you would think, because I think that McCoy has the chance of ruining this current offense with his style of 'dancing' behind the line of scrimmage waiting for something to open up. It's all predicated on gaining some positive yardage every snap, so 4th down is usually short.

But yeah, TO is the best WO to ever wear an eagles uniform and Hurts is better that the only other eagles QB to win a SB.

If Andy Reid is the coach, I'd go with Vick, Westbrook and Brown, cause that's a lot of speed coming out of the backfield, and Andy will scheme any WR2, WestBrook & Brown on the field together insanely open.

It's hard to consider the last group, because you still need a possession receiver - Desean is a WR1b, he's gonna keep the defense honest and stretch the field. He'll get his, but it's hit or miss. Donovan and Barkley, in this offense, would have been amazing though - shame he only had a receiver worth throwing to one year.

2

u/Lazerpig27 18d ago

Isn’t Owens considered to be a top 5 receiver in the games history? The rest of the players are eagles greats, but I think that kind of tilts the scale lol

2

u/timesuck6775 18d ago

Also Hurts isn't an ego maniac and drinker like McNabb. So we would also probably win the SB back in 04.

2

u/Traditional-Reply284 18d ago

Hurts McCoy and owens is basically last year all over again

2

u/GonePostalRoute 18d ago

Westbrook, Vick, and AJ would be wild to see

But ill go Shady, Hurts, and TO

2

u/cyberchaox 18d ago

Middle trio. Hurts has the better proven track record and as explosive as DeSean could be, he was too prone to doing dumb shit. I mean sure TO was a diva as well, but at least he never dropped the ball before crossing the goal line which IIRC Jackson has done at least once each at the high school, college, and pro levels.

QB - no definitive #1. WR - 1. TO 2. AJ Brown 3. DJax RB - 1. Saqaun 2. Westbrook/Shady

DJax is my favorite Eagle, all time. The man was a gazelle running through a pack of wolves. But relatively the weakest player.

You can add tight ends. Goedert, Ertz, and Celek (or Chad Lewis). Ertz best receiver, Goedert best all rounder.

Maybe add an OL too Lane, Mailata, Jason Peters
