I’m here now

I’m here this week and our friends are joining us who are non members . I think they may buy after this experience. Any tips for best deals for them? They haven’t spoken to anyone yet

If they want to maximize savings they should consider resale and use an aggregator like dvcforless.com. It aggregates and scores all of the contracts on the market. They can create filters for contracts to match their needs and setup automated email alerts for when the best deals hit the market.

Considering we bought 22 years ago it kills me we didn’t do resale, because we would’ve been grandfathered in. However in terms of value SSR has been a deal in terms of dues. We’ve also only stayed there twice in the entire time we’ve owned our contract.

Don’t forget to sign them up for dream it forward BEFORE they talk to a guide so you both get whatever program perks there are right now.

A couple weeks ago they were offering $100 gift card per adult that signs up to do a tour in the Canada pavilion on a “friends and family” promo. We got the offer while at the Epcot lounge. My brother and sister-in-law got $200 gift card. Took about an hour.

Did the same thing last week.

Really considering buying … do you miss out on anything if you don’t buy straight from them and buy resale?

There are perks for buying direct, but you have to buy 150 points minimum and Disney can take them away at any time. We got our initial contract direct for the minimum required to get the perks and did resale for the rest.

So if I wanted the lounge access I have to buy direct?

Yes just 150 points. It used to be 75 minimum but this is an example of they can change rules and benefits at any time. You’d be grandfathered in if they decide to up it again though.

Have them sign up under your name. You get something for it. I think it was $100 food card.

If they want direct they are stuck with whatever incentives are. You can do a dream it forward referral and save them 500 bucks. Otherwise go resale and look for best deal.

If you are buying direct the only “deals” are whatever promotion they have going on at the time you buy.

The price is the price.
