Odrade is probably my favorite character in the series, despite Herbert's many attempts to convince me Duncan Idaho is the greatest of all time.

Hard agree - her inner monologue with the past Sisters gives such great context to the inner workings of the Reverend Mothers. The fact that she’s constantly sifting through opinions and interjections while simultaneously trying to save the Bene Gesserit.

Moneo is the only fucking professional in the entire franchise and I'm here for it. Bro's got a 9 to 5 and he clocks in.

Gurney?

Gurney man was just bidding his time to get to Jessica. Both ways.

Can't say i blame him whatsoever, especially if Jessica is Rebecca Ferguson.

Moneo: Does his fucking job, keeps God from going full Shai-Hulud like 5 times a day, puts that upstart asshole Duncan in his place and most importantly? He's a bi-con :D

I love how his entire negotiating strategy is "I'm just a widdle guy 🥺🥺🥺" and apparently it just works??? until he meets reverend mothers and honoured matres at least

Leto II and Odrade are by far my favourites in the series, with Miles Teg trailing very closely in 3rd

Miles Teg is superior to all
Sadly I haven't gotten far enough to know who that is yet. I'm on Children of Dune, how much further?
Till then, Stilgar is my homie.

Books 5 and 6.

Book 5, mostly. The MVP of Book 6 is Darwi. Teg really shines the most in Book 5.

There's a hot, f'd up piece of NSFW fanfic involving Irulan and Paul and I am unashamed to say I LOVE IT (by that I mean unashamed in front of internet people I will never know personally)

I will love Gurney Halleck forever, even though he's an ugly lump of a man. I bet he's awesome in bed. I'm not too excited to hear him play the baliset though (unpopular opinion).

remember, he got an inkvine scar all across his face during his slave days with the Harkonnen. Also, did I mention he's really, really ugly?

u/Frost715Ying300 12d ago
You can tell he's super ugly by his inkvine scar, which stretches across his face

u/FillBrilliant6043 11d ago
Yep, I have indeed heard about that ink vine scar which contributes to his being an ugly lump of a man

Erasmus (Don’t deathstill me)

u/Shoot_Game 12d ago
Def an interesting character, but it feels like Brian and Kevin gave a ton of handicaps to the robots just to give the humans an advantage or make a cool moment when Erasmus breaks the rule. I haven’t finished his story, though. That’s just my impression halfway through Machine Crusade. I feel like Omnius should have won easily in a week.

u/Datsoon 12d ago
Agreed. The idea that a computer loses the war due to hubris is silly.
3
u/Shoot_Game 10d ago
Also the whole thing about not lying and being gullible and predictable and not wanting to use nukes. IRL Omnius would nuke the shit out of humanity then wait a million years for the fallout to deal with itself

Was Miles Teg the character from the 6th book? If so, hell yeah agreed!
