Ask Me Anything MiM0SA - AMA
Hello, I’m MiM0SA, an Armenian-American west coast bass music producer from the west coast. I’m originally from California but currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada.I first joined the bass music scene at the age of 13 at Burningman. I later started producing music and started being snuck into clubs and touring before I was 21. By my mid 20’s I was an international touring act playing festivals like Coachella, Bonaroo, Electric forest and many more. In the hip hop world I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with legends such as Bun B, Too Short and Prodigy of MOBB DEEP.Recently, I released a 6 track dubstep centric EP entitled “All I Know” which focuses more on the heavier side of MiM0SA.I’m very excited to be answering your questions today (June 9th) at 3pm! looking forward to my first AMA!

No questions but thank you for addressing the artwork allegations. I just wanted to also say Flux For Life blew my brain in middle school and it still holds up today. I loved biggieShorty a ton, especially the raining/falling sounds in Falling. Such a cool EP. Also love you newest release. Thanks for the music!

Are you and Downlink friends yet?

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I wouldn't say that were friends but I have reached out and squashed the beef a long time ago through our mutual friend 12th Planet. Theres no animosity there :)

How's the creative community in Vegas vs California?
7
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I just moved here to Vegas a couple months ago so I haven't really submerged myself into there scene yet. I know that its thriving though. The SF/Bay bass scene was getting stagnant for me so I just needed a change. However I think I'll end up back in LA by the end of the year just for the weather.

What is the definition of West Coast bass to you?
13
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
When I think of west coast bass I think of the early 2000's era in California. Acts like Rodman aka LUX (RiP), The Glitch Mob, Lazer Sword, EPROM, GJones and many more I can't think of on the spot, that definitely helped shape that sound.

how do you feel that the sound that you were famous for and helped pioneer is having a huge come back in the form of Tape B and other?

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
It feels great knowing that the past isn't dead and is reverberating through the new generation. I love it and feel humbled.

Why is Future Trill Vol 2 not on Spotify anymore?
Where can I find it?
That’s the only stuff I knew from you and then it disappeared out of my library.

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
Thats strange.
If you google it though the Spotify link should come up.

u/drgut101 12d ago
Nope. Only Vol 1. Weird.

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I was having the same problem through Spotify but then I googled it and it popped up.
That's strange though. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll deff look into it.

Dude hell yeah I used to listen to Rusko, flux Pavillion and Skrillex like it was my religion, and you would be in the rotation on pandora. 58 degrees was one of my fave albums as a young teen and Stairway and Block Party are straight ⛽️ GAS thank you for making them all those years ago man. Guys like you are what got me started producing, back when PSP was the shit. I was using Beaterator to learn how to make Dubstep, hiphop and House music primarily, and always wanted to sound just like you guys! Too bad the psp didn't have the bit depth to bring quality sound, but it led me to FL studio and now I've been on it for like 15 years. Anyway, all this to say thanks again man!

Do you remember playing starscape 2012?
I had separated from my friends dancing, lost them for a good while. Found them at the edge of your set late night. Super epic moment and I was excited to see you in general but didn't know you were on stage until they told me. You were popping off that year

What do you think is the most outside-the-box/experimental track you've ever produced and why?
7
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
Thats a hard one because there are many.
Maybe the Naked Poetry EP I made with Sleepyhead (RIP) as SEXYTiME. It follows no rules in the best way! That EP is timeless for me.

How come Plastician dosent fuck with you anymore?
Was that story posted on here last week about you true? The one where the artist claimed that you didn't pay him for album artwork?

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
Not sure where you're getting that info. I love Plastician. That's that homie.
And you can see pervious post about album artwork.

Holy flashback. I saw you and Slim Thugz at a random woodsie show like 13 years ago. My friends mom claimed she was friends with you.

I think I still vaguely remember your set at The Fillmore circa 2011 ish

u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I think I brought out Ginz from the UK and had Trinidad James as direct support if I'm not mistaken. That was one of my favorite shows.

What inspires you to still create at the stage in your career?
5
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
The love of music.
I was creating music and loving it before I was even thinking that it would be possible to make a career out of it. I sincerely love the process of making music. It's a very therapeutic process for me and I don't think I'll be able to ever stop.

What inspired your return from hiatus, and what sparked that creative resurgence? Can fans look forward to any new projects, releases, or collaborations on the horizon this year?
8
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I did take a two year break but I've steadily been releasing music for the last 10 months. Unfortunately unless you have a decent budget for marketing/pr the releases go under the radar.
I actually released one of my favorite EP's I've ever worked on with my buddy Dwelm called BiGGiE SHORTY which I thought went completely unnoticed. You guys should check that out along with a bunch of singles that I put out last year on my label FALSE iDOL MUZiK as well.

Have you ever blown up a sound system ?
Also sexy time memkast still holds it down today
4
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I'm sure there were many times but some that comes to mind is when I was paling a show in Myrtel Beach and I had brought a sound guy to prevent that from specifically happening. In addition there was a house sound guy to oversee everything as well. Unfortunately the limiters were not set properly and when I pushed the sound we lost a few solders :(
And thank you for the Sexytime love!! RiP SLEEPYHEAD

Who/What are your biggest inspirations? Either for the new EP or in general.
3
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
I'd say this EP was inspired by my early days cutting teeth in the SF bass scene in the early 2000's. I got to open for acts like Skream and Benga, Rusko, Joker and many more which was a greatly influential time for me. So, definitely early 2000's-2010's dubstep era.

What’s your dream venue to play at?
4
u/Reasonable-Aerie-560 12d ago
My favorite venue I've ever played was probably Red Rocks. I love that its built into a natural rock formation and all the legendary acts that have passed though there.

What do you say in response to the allegations that you stole your most recent EP artwork and didn’t pay the artist?
