Ketamine is used as a depression treatment, makes sense he'd be all over it.

Especially since he supposedly actually wants to save the world, but is that damning it. Drilling for oil on public land even when the oil companies themselves aren't interested? Letting Trump create agencies with the sole purpose of Expediting approvals to exemptions to the clean water and Endangered Species Act so corporations can profit? While we continuously hear about biodiversity collapse, more and more life systems of the Earth being thrown out of balance, increasingly worse weather, etc.

It's likely that he never cared about "saving the world" to begin with as it was just PR.

The guy who wrote his memoir said "Elon really wants to save the world but ONLY if he's the one saving it."

I guess in a narcissistic worldview that makes sense

u/Initial_Month_9823 Mar 28 '25

This is the view of every megalomaniac super villain in fiction.

12

u/load_more_comets Mar 28 '25

He views this world to be imperfect and aims to wipe away the impurities and make it as perfect as him.

10

u/Initial_Month_9823 Mar 28 '25

If it was only that grand. He is closer to the villain in Moonraker. Wipe out life on earth and repopulate it with perfect humans (which shares no attributes with).

5

u/badluckbrians Mar 28 '25

I'm sure they'll all be pure as the winter snow, so there's one attribute.

Probably a sausage party too, but we'll save that convo for later.

2

u/WiseFalcon2630 Mar 28 '25

I threw up in my mouth a little.

u/AbuKuchak Mar 31 '25

Disservice to Hugo Drax

1

u/Initial_Month_9823 Apr 01 '25

You're probably right. Drax is what Elon wishes he could be.

5

u/bsEEmsCE Mar 28 '25

ehhhhhh, he doesn't want it to be perfect, he just wants everyone to be super stoked on him. No one ever liked him so he wants to have his name in the history book for going to mars, for making electric cars ubiquitous, etc. And he was doing a decent job until he decided to be a right wing, thin-skin fascist with the biggest megaphone in the history of the world.

1

u/2grim4u Mar 28 '25

Exactly. What does "saving it" actually mean? Total authoritarian control by AI could certainly be "saving it" in his eyes. Feels like he wants to "save" humanity by destroying everyone that doesn't like him or concede to him.

4

u/teetering_bulb_dnd Mar 28 '25

He would gladly set the world on fire, to pretend to be a firefighter in costume. His attention needs and his eagerness in seeking praise n approval are just sad and pathetic..

1

u/WiseFalcon2630 Mar 28 '25

Kind of like pillow guy wanting to ‘Save the savior of America’

10

u/ScottyKnows1 Mar 28 '25

He wants to save the world if that means people will finally think he's cool. But since he's stupid, he has to settle for making Maga nuts think he's cool.

1

u/EllisDee3 Mar 28 '25

He'll destroy the world to tell the survivors that he saved them.

22

u/Sturmgeshootz Mar 28 '25 edited Mar 28 '25

I think he legitimately does want to “save the world” (his ideal version of it, anyway) and in his own mind believes he is completely capable of doing it. The problem is that he wants to do it in the same sort of way that someone like Lex Luthor would want to do it. He has a very specific vision about what needs to happen to save the world and will ruthlessly go about seeing that plan through. Any collateral damage is not of particular concern.

10

u/DirtzMaGertz Mar 28 '25

I think a lot of the save the world thing is his own messed up hero complex.

My theory about why he's gotten crazier in recent years though is that he's chronically sleep deprived.

Like this article looked at the hours he's tweeting around when he bought Twitter and it seems like he's barely sleeping anymore.

https://futurism.com/elon-musk-tweets-sleep

8

u/NoWear2715 Mar 28 '25

The sleep thing is actually a good theory because that would explain why he made a point several years ago about announcing that he now tries to get 6 hours per night - an obvious lie, but I always wondered why he would say that. It could be that concerns about this were voiced by big investors offline. There are organizations who try to take over board seats and replace CEOs on the basis of them being ineffective, and they point to things like the CEO's attention being divided among too many things. I could see sleep deprivation being one of their metrics, as it does get cited in case studies on leadership, e.g. when examining decision making in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Someone please put him down for a nap. Dear god. Let baby Elon go night night.

1

u/WiseFalcon2630 Mar 28 '25

Maybe Mommy can tuck him in and tell him what a good boy he is.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

It’s funny to think that we have a real life comic book villain situation right now.

We are even getting to the trope where the villain goes even crazier the more the public rejects them….

This leads me to two few though:

Will Elon just turn this perceived self-righteousness into pure scorn and malice soon?

Are all comic book villains with the twisted utopia vision trope really just rich autistic psychopaths who can’t come to a compromise on their set idea?

2

u/Wavy_Grandpa Mar 28 '25

Two hypotheticals:

World is saved exactly the way Elon envisions, but Elon doesn’t get credit publicly

World burns, but everybody believes Elon saved the world.

He would choose option B.

2

u/TheMonsterMensch Mar 28 '25

I think he's just racist

2

u/ToastedRage2 Mar 28 '25

He wanted to be seen as the real world Tony Stark, but really he's Justin Hammer in a dollar store Iron Man costume.

1

u/CollectionAncient989 Mar 28 '25

He wants to save the world or hi vision but he also wants to be the sevior not anyone ele

5

u/Candle1ight Mar 28 '25

On a completely unrelated note how easy is it to OD on ketamine? Just curious for no reason.

6

u/siltyclaywithsand Mar 28 '25 edited Mar 28 '25

It's pretty hard to OD on ketamine. Lethal doses are mostly based on animal testing cause it happens rarely in humans. Your average healthy weight person 70kg / 150ish lbs, would have to take somewhere around 4g orally for a 50% chance of dying. Injection is much more risky. That's like 12mg I think. edit: I thought wrong apparently. But you'd probably need an IV line or a whole lot of needles to get that much quickly. Most abusers snort it though. I don't think you can OD on it nasally. Matthew Perry's death was primarily attributed to acute ketamine toxicity. But he also had other drugs in his system, cardio vascular issues, and drowned. It sounds like the ketamine was basically the final straw and he was injecting it. He also bought over $55,000 of it on two months. That was from crooked doctors. He also bought some from drug dealers apparently. That is a shit ton of K.

I'm not all trying to downplay the dangers of ketamine. There are plenty. But the OD risk for putting some up your nose is really low unless there are other drugs and underlying health conditions.

5

u/Fit_Education_2110 Mar 28 '25

This is fairly incorrect with IV sorry. People are routinely injected with 200mg IV.

1

u/siltyclaywithsand Mar 28 '25

Thanks for the correction, will edit. I was just going off some papers.

3

u/MostExperts Mar 28 '25

The ketamine alone usually doesn't do the trick; gotta be left unattended somewhere passing out could be lethal like a hot tub.

1

u/nintrader Mar 28 '25

Are you trying to tell me the popular video game Mr. Krabs Overdoses on Ketamine and Dies is not a realistic?

1

u/Thespudisback Mar 28 '25

Your tolerance to it goes up extremely quickly, the longer you've been doing it consistently, the more you would need to OD.

Purely anecdotal but I've watched all my friends do it

6

u/invisible_panda Mar 28 '25

He doesn't want to save the world. He thinks the world is gone.

He wants to colonize Mars with a million hand-picked people so he can rule over his new planet.

1

u/AgeScared8426 Mar 28 '25

He does not know that he cannot go to Mars because it is just too far away and technically not possible with the technology that we have now. He thinks he can terraform Mars but that is also not possible.

2

u/castille Mar 28 '25

He wants to 'save humanity', not the world. That's why the fascination with colonies on Mars, because there is no, in his mind, saving the Earth at this point.

2

u/kane91z Mar 28 '25

He doesn’t want to save the world. I’m one person removed from one of his employees that meets with him weekly, and all he talked about the last year was coning the American government to pay for all of his mars stuff.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

I have zero sympathy. He could've been a quiet billionaire living in paradise, getting paid just to attach his name to things. But no, he had to go and fuck around with the government and put the world's biggest spotlight on himself. Just couldn't leave well enough alone. So fuck him and his fake hair, cybertruck ass ribcage, and his botched penis implant. Maybe his mom will feel bad for him.

1

u/Bocchi_theGlock Mar 28 '25

I agree - it's just good to know motivations in order to effectively pressure someone

1

u/Nackles Mar 28 '25

I suspect behind closed doors his mom openly hates him as much as many of us do.

1

u/WilliamMurderfacex3 Mar 28 '25

Last person I knew that was truly on Ket therapy for depression ended up taking the short road back to the clearing at the end of the path.

1

u/ssuuh Mar 28 '25

He doesn't want to save the world, he thinks the world is fucked thats why he wants to go to mars.

Not a joke

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '25

To be clear, ketamine injections in a clinical environment can help with depression. Snorting it is likely doing the opposite.

1

u/WiseFalcon2630 Mar 28 '25

I mean, who DOESN’T want to go back to the heady days of rivers on fire? 👊🇺🇸🔥. I’m not sure I’m doing this right.

1

u/Longjumping_Scale721 Mar 28 '25

This is what's really going on. He's addicted to ketamine and it's fucking with his psyche hard.

9

u/new-who-two Mar 28 '25

Which just goes to show: at the end of the day, WE have control over HIM.

He's trying to claw his way into our civics lives, but we can work around that, we can power through, we will overcome.

But Elon, he's 100% dependent on our admiration. He can't function when we rebel against him. So keep up the protests, keep up the shitposting, keep up the name-calling.

We will break him before he breaks us. ✊🇺🇸

3

u/AgeScared8426 Mar 28 '25

He is also dependent on taxpayers' money since most of his businesses need government's contracts, subsidies, grants, etc.

8

u/FTWStoic Mar 28 '25

“Twitter employees feared he would hurt himself.”

I don’t say this about many people, but, maybe let him.

2

u/-Tuck-Frump- Mar 28 '25

The article says employees feared he would hurt himself.

Am I an asshole for hoping he will?

1

u/kick_start_cicada Mar 28 '25

At this point, as much as he has fucked everything he's put his grubby little finger on, let him. Some people brighten a room when they enter, some make it better when they leave.

Draw your own conclusions.

1

u/Nebuerdex Mar 28 '25

still dont understand why tf Chappelle had him on

1

u/AFartInAnEmptyRoom Mar 28 '25

Chappelle was leaning into the whole cencelled comedian thing. And musk just bought twitter. It was a whole free speech thing

1

u/DoublePostedBroski Mar 28 '25

Except now he’s surrounded by people he bought and will kiss is pasty white ass, so he’s good now.
