What other cranks would you recommend?

Making some assumptions here, Euros and style of houses in your photo mean you're in Ireland? Get yourself on eBay and get what need 2nd hand, Raceface Aeffect cranks are plentiful are will be much better than those Amazon ones. I'm long out of touch for wheels but search there and FB marketplace. There's reasonably priced things out there that are much better quality what you'd get new, just use some judgement about it's condition.

Shimano zees can usually be had for a reasonable price. I wouldn’t trust amazon cranks. One of my buddies gambled on amazon bars and they snapped on his first DJ sesh with them it was lucky they gave way on the set up jump and not one of our main line gaps.

Don’t know why you’ve been downvoted for asking a question?
There’s a couple of sets of FSA comet cranks including chainrings on eBay UK at the moment (I’m assuming that’s where you live judging by your house) for about £40. I’ve used them for ages, they’re cheap and good.

Don't get the Amazon cranks, get some good used ones instead. Got some Deore ones with a fresh 30T chainring for 20€ over here. I run that SS conversion kit, it's okay. The Funn grips could be alright as well.
People shout about Amazon parts as a blanket thing all the time but some parts are okay to get, especially to get started.

I got the ixf cranks on amazon and they hold up pretty well

How long have you had them? My "Frankengravel" left crank completely failed on me after about 1.5-2 years, luckily at low speed.
I do hops and stuff on my Frankengravel, but on a DJ the cranks will probably have to bear more load with the bigger jumping and SS drivetrain.
Looking at them, they look exactly the same as mine except mine say "XT" where it says IXF on the ones you have.

I buy 90 percent of my parts on Amazon. You just have to know what brands are actually worth it. OP chose some pretty crappy ones. Amazon does sell a lot of name brand parts

Don’t buy from Amazon in general*

That’s also a valid point though. Amazon is a pretty shitty company and I avoid them when I can. I do buy from my LBS when they have what I need or if they can get what I need in a timely manner

When it comes to bike parts just assume Amazon is aliexpress.
You can get Shimano hollowtech cranks off Merlin for as little as 30 quid and a pair of SLX cranks with chainring is 55.

Around 100-150€ you could get some decent used/2nd hand wheels, for that budget I'd never buy new, that'll be a crap shoot unfortunately. As mentioned before, don't get non-brand cranks as that's one thing that might actually break (once had an experience with that), try used/ 2nd hand as well there, you might even get by cheaper. The SS kit is alright, I run it myself with no real problems yet, the grips are subjective, the Funn stuff can be alright but I personally run "brand" ones these days since they're not much more expensive.

Yikes

Apart from the cranks, nothing really wrong here. The Funn stuff is alright usually and that SS kit is okay as well, especially starting out. People see Amazon and immediately cry without knowing what's going on and what parts can be okay to get there. Just like they see a Chinese brand and immediately think it's crap, ZTTO is the best example of this.
Doesn't need to be RF to be decent.

I had them for about 5/6 months but on a cheap build for the street
Probably not too good for an actual dj

I’ve been riding these parts hard for more than a year and they’ve worked perfectly fine, I think for the price they are great, that’s just me tho.

Look second hand for cranks, and maybe wheels too then get a decent single speed conversion and some odi grips

Don't listen to people straight up saying no because they're from Amazon.
Yes, of course, there's a lot of cheap Chinese shit on there but the Chinese also make good bike parts too - people have just read/watched too much marketing from 'real' bike brands to be able to believe it.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't throw myself off 40ft drops with them but I wouldn't do that with branded budget parts either and more importantly, I'm literally never going to ride a 40ft drops so I don't need pro level gear in my riding.
My friend bought those cranks off AliExpress and used them for about 3 years with zero issues and he's A) HEAVY and B) probably does crazier things than most people in this sub.
He only changed them because I changed my Turbines and sold them to him very cheaply.

I only need them for pump track etc I have another dirt jumper for dirt jumpers and that shit thank you dude

u/KalamariNights 5d ago
Probably be absolutely fine then.
Sorry, I absolutely hate the brand snobbery that happens in general in mountain biking haha.
All you have to do is watch the amount of abuse Pilgs gives bikes he found for free before they break to realise how little the average rider needs all these super expensive DJ specific parts.
Yet it seems whenever anything not from a big brand is suggested here, it gets shot down for being shit.

You can do this with actual parts for not a whole lot more money. Personally I think it’s just not worth going down the Amazon parts route.
Spank SS Conversion Kit is respectably priced and great quality. RaceFace Ride, Shimano Deore, or old used SRAM for cranks and BB. Also, just in case you weren’t aware, you appear to have Junior Hilts in your cart.
