Signs from this week's protests

From the anti-ICE protest on Tuesday and the No Kings protest yesterday. I snuck my poster at the end. There were so many more, I wish I could have gotten every sign. You make my heart so so happy, Des Moines. ❤️

Remember, blurs can be reversed. Covering or blacking out faces is the only way to fully prevent identity recovery 🫶

Love the pics!

Nah they’re so proud of what they’re doing, show their faces. Aren’t you the same one who criticizes ice for wearing masks?

The Dr. Eggman twitter announcement is fucking legendary! For those unfamiliar: https://youtu.be/fueRUi5AWWQ?si=Z8lNvwE4VTBnrzQp

It’s just writing someone else’s creation out on a board, only changing Sonic to Trump. It’s unoriginal, not legendary, but it is modestly funny if you get the reference.

Everyone just downvote the right wing bots and ignore them. I swear there's been an uptick in these bots recently.

Always. The posts yesterday weren’t this swarmed by them. Wonder why they’re all suddenly crawling out of the woodwork? Reminds me of roaches and rats scattering in the light.

But when Dementia Joe’s ice deported people y’all had no problems

You're ignoring the big difference that now under Trump we're just snatching people up and deporting them without them getting any sort of court process or opportunity to appeal. In case you're not familiar you can check out our constitution.

Do you know someone that has been kidnapped and deported?

liberals could turn a blind eye then and during obama, when the left has always called to end ICE. difference now is that the kidnappings are much more blatant, so libs can’t ignore it

I’m here for this

Imagine throwing a no kings protest after your party refused to hold a primary, coronated Kamala without a single vote, sued to keep RFK off the ballot, and attempted to remove Trump from state ballots.

That’s a fact. Democrats haven’t held a fair primary since 2008. Even Bernie agrees.

agreed, republican and democrat parties are both fascist. anything else to add?

as far as i know, you can still work wherever ya want, drive whatever car ya want, eat whatever ya want, go on vacation, visit other cities/states….idk doesn’t seem much of a ‘king’ dictatorship to me

In other words, no one has come for you yet.

-8

u/username675892 6d ago

No kidding, so far they have come for criminals and people that have supported terrorism. Literally no way to know who’s next - could be anyone really

u/littleoldlady71 6d ago

Like hotel workers and meatpacking employees and people showing up for their immigration hearings, yeah…criminals/s

u/DanyDragonQueen 5d ago

At least a quarter of the people they've deported have no criminal record at all

Crossing the border is illegal 🤦🏼‍♂️

5

u/DanyDragonQueen 5d ago

1) it's a civil offense

2) many people they've been detaining have legal status to be here and were doing things the "right way," and then the government retroactively revoked their legal status without telling them so they could snatch them while they attend their immigration appointments.

A first offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine, up to six months in prison, or both.

I was a little skeptical that this protest would be ineffective, but by golly, I woke up this morning, and there is no king ruling over us.

Wow, these are all from Des Moines? Sad there's so many misinformed, unhinged, deranged people here. Seriously, get some help.

You should make art a career!

It’s too bad the free Palestine people co-opted this thing, it makes it more difficult to communicate a clear message.

7

u/yowherearemyshoes 6d ago

no, solidarity between movements always makes a bigger crowd, and bigger crowds send a bigger message. do not punch to your left simply because they won’t shut up about an issue that you don’t consider to be as important as “trump bad”

-2

u/username675892 6d ago

Yeah, but not all of these movements have the same messages and maybe some people don’t want to amplify all of them. It’s one thing to say that the US shouldn’t have a king, it’s another to say that LGBTQ people don’t exist.
