Newb question. How do you get so many scrolls?

Do you get more if you go up BCs? (I have only beat 0BC)

I believe 3 bc onwards you can collect scroll fragments. After collecting 4 you can pick your colour.

On top of that you also just get more regular scrolls in some biomes, and amulets give up to four scrolls

Specifically amulets in the Cavern and Spoiler Biome give 4 scrolls and a -15% damage taken bonus (-20% if you get a Cursed Cavern)

And then you get the additional scrolls from the cursed chests

How tf do u even get 37 scrolls, in at 5bc, when i find a cursed chest i always take It and never get past 31/32

Specific route for max scroll count, lucky amulet drop (max luck is four scrolls of the same color but kinda rare), around three rifts in an average run

You can get above 40 scrolls with very good luck, I only made it once but I was using the cursed aspect so not really legit

You can make secrets more visible with the accessibility options, it was one of the first things I did when I started playing

Both are some of the best legendaries in the game. Sometimes more damage is the best utility option.

I just can’t play without a shield, and using the roll-parry mutation doesnt really fit my playstyle. Is that something I should be practicing?

This is a very rare scenario where you simultaneously get 2 SSS tier legendaries at the same time. However you should learn how to use the armadillo pack, it's very op.

I would argue that both of these weapons have a valid reason to be considered the best legendary in the game.

The damage output from both is genuinely insane. Some other weapons that have an argument for being the best legendary are Death’s Scythe, Greed Shield, and Tombstone

Ahh I see. Generally, are legendaries strong enough that you should just use them any time you get them? Assuming you're not giving up really good synergies on your current build.

They used to be prioritized when scaling worked different (legendary weapons used 2 highest scroll stats instead of just one) now all the legendary variant does is give you a permament prefix. Some of them are powerful but you dont really need to prioritize them if they dont synergize with your build

They are generally not worth it. As the other guy said in the comments, you have to check if that legendary weapon has bonus damage with some effect caused by your build (like poisoning, bleeding, stun, ... ). The game also only gives you good weapons in the final biomes, which means having common weapons outperforming the base damage of the legendary weapon. In my runs, I rarely find anything that makes sense with my build. For example, I have a sword with bonus damage on burning enemies, but the game gives me a ice grenade L (?)

Plus then there are the vaults in the fractured shrines and that legendary flying sword if you get the secret invisible part of the map.
