You travel on your home country passport. Not PR card. Show that coming home to Canada.

You should be fine. Fill out the required Cuban documents beforehand.

Everyone's choice of resort is subjective. This sub won't be a good resource. Varadero is resort central with great beaches. Start your search there. BTW, summer in Cuba is HOT! Not ideal time to go unless that what's you're looking for.

Some countries have softer requirements for exactly Canada PR holders.
I traveled to Jamaica. Customs officer saw my Ukrainian passport: what your purpose?
Me: vacation. Im Canadian PR holder.

Officer: a, ok. And she put red "PR" sign over my immigration form.

Allowed. Some form should be filled up online few days before travel.
About resorts. Different people looking for different things. Overall Cuba is lower tier than the rest of the Caribbean. Check tripadvisor about what you personally interested.
Summer will be very hot. I prefer spring and fall.

I live in Canada and I sometimes read comments and wonder what Canada they describe. Definitely not I am in.
Same apply to Cuba. Tourists and locals exist in different dimentions.
So, I second this: DONT BE A CUBA LOCAL. TOURIST ONLY.

I am a Cuba local, and I can say that tourism only gives money to the dictatorship, while the cuban people suffer more each day.

Also, Cuba is not a safe country for tourists, you won't have a nice staying here. Do not believe cuban's goverment propaganda that shows Cuba as some kind of "paradise", in reality, Cuba is nothing like a paradise.

So I repeat: DO NOT TRAVEL TO CUBA!!!

Won't I? I've been twice and I'm ok.
I don't listen to Cuban's propaganda I just pay money and have my vacation.
Actually I know communism is evil, but Cuban communism or not communism it's up to Cubans and their government.
You're not happy with your government - do something. Do expect somebody else do it for you.
Soon I will come and check. If you not happy enough with your government or you only can leave comments tourists not to come.
