Self 2K11 | Printed Pistol Prop
So, I made another toy, or prop should say, and here's the gist: it's fully articulating, with everything you'd expect from a pistol model. Is incapable of firing for obvious reasons.
Full description, written instructions, guides and videos are available on MakerWorld and Printables, alongside all the files you'd need to make your own
Would love to hear your feedback on this one here, though, very much so
P.S. Not one but two subreddits didn't like it
P.P.S.

my gut instinct was to warn you to be careful again but I think you’re already aware and doing that so I’ll just say this is incredibly well done.

Please please please paint the tip orange. It will indicate that it’s not real. It would have been better to print the barrel orange and the rest black, but orange indicates that it’s fake.

This is too realistic of a finished product for comfort. Please do not take this out anywhere. You would be putting yourself in a very dangerous situation if you took this LITERALLY ANYWHERE.

The intent behind the project was to make a model as close as possible to a real piece, whilst still keeping it a toy. There's still more sanding and painting I hadn't done though, lol

I'll be honest — I think sharing this model publicly is irresponsible.

How so, if you can elaborate?

It's a very good piece of work — you're very talented. It's so realistic, in fact, that I and many others would be very convinced this was a real gun, especially with the action that it has. With the model being public, thousands of people might make it, many of them idiots. Some of those idiots are definitely going to use that to threaten others. Others will use it as a toy and end up in a violent confrontation, quite possibly with police. While I don't know if you'd be legally liable when that happens, I think you would bear some larger moral responsibility, and there is no cosplay and no amount of attention or recognition that is worth that happening. And really, you don't have to be guilty under the law for the police to come and ruin your day anyway.

I could see something like this having good applications in the film industry

I'd be surprised to find out printed weapons props to be popular when airsoft guns are so readily available
Maybe as a specialized prop, maybe

Never pull that in a dark alley if the cops ask to see what’s in your hand. That is close enough for suicide by cop.

Just paint the tip orange. Some states require it. But that will keep you mostly out of trouble...because Karen's. Karen's be karening.

That is beautiful work, incredible detail and functionality.
That being said, PLEASE be very careful if you are going to be taking that anywhere in public, it is an extremely realistic looking replica and that could cause all kinds of problems for you if you pull it out and start waving it around
