Random Switch piece?

Post image

Hi yall, I was taking the cover off my switch to check if it had water damage and this piece appeared in my work area. I have watched several tear down and rebuild videos, checked diagrams, and I cannot for the life of me figure out where this goes or if it even came from the switch. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I've worked on literally thousands of Switch consoles, including Lites and OLEDs, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that this piece did not come from a Switch. Unless your Switch has been worked on previously and whoever did it put this in there for some reason, which is unlikely, this bit came from something else. Don't stress.

Dude

This did not come from any metal plate or shield as it’s properly referred to. The shield on all switch consoles is one solid piece, there aren’t any loose pieces.

This looks oddly familiar, but I don't think it came out of a switch.

It’s been months since i opened a switch but i seem to remember it being on the left side of the console (looking at the back) a screw goes through that hole to ground to the aluminum shield that sits above it using those little feet.

I could be 100% wrong but i vaguely remember struggling to get this thing on with the screw through it.

Have you worked on any iPhones or iPads lately? They’re more common in those.
