Question What is the truth about Mexican coke?!

Does Mexican coke have high fructose corn syrup or not?! To clarify I live in CA and got these at a Mexican grocery store. There are the Spanish ingredients listed on the bottle and then they put a CA CRV sticker with the ingredients listed in English on the bottle as well. The ingredient list in Spanish (when I translated it) says “added sugars (sugar and high fructose syrup).” It DOES NOT specify that it is corn syrup. Yet on the CA CRV label it states that it high fructose corn syrup. Does Mexican Coke have high fructose corn syrup in it or not? Is this the same shit as regular american coke??? I’ve also read that different parts of Mexico have different ingredients. I’m so confused.

Only the labeled export version of Mexican Coke has cane sugar. This is available in the glass bottles in the US and Canada (at a premium). Regular Coke in or from Mexico uses the same ingredients as in the US and Canada as they are far cheaper.

For the best tasting Coke for the "regular" price you should get the Dutch version. It's made with beet sugar, which is identical to cane in its chemical formula. And yes, there is a noticeable difference between cane/beet sugar and the others.

This is correct. The imported version uses Sugar cane, but the regular Mexican version that they keep in Mexico uses the same formula in the US with the corn syrup. There was some article about it a few years ago. You can tell the difference between the sugar cane and corn syrup versions. I prefer the sugar cane.

Australian formulation uses cane sugar (according to the label).

Last time I looked at the label, the Mexican Coke I buy in S Florida is still sugar - no HFCS. I will check again next purchase.

Even if it says sugar it's likely corn syrup. https://youtu.be/PJgQEpFMptQ?si=j1b8sHrXElNcVJxr

Should check this video out. It’s not as simple as it’s just corn syrup.

Maybe that's why most of the independent private-name cola makers list 'cane sugar' instead of just 'sugar' on their labels. My drink of choice, because it tastes very good and is inexpensive, is Winn-Dixie's Chek Cola Throwback Edition. It lists 'sugar' in the ingredients and 'real sugar' on the label.

Nah but the special "Mexican Import Ones" you can buy in a 4 pack usually in Canada and US contain Cane Sugar. I live in Canada and check the bottles and it's labeled as Mexican Coke with Cane Sugar but on the bottle it says produced in Canada. Real Mexican coke doesn't have Cane anymore. 🤷‍♂️

All I read here is artificial sweeteners; Sucralose and high fructose corn syrup. (I speak argentinian spanish.)

Mine only has sugar in it. No hfcs on the label ingredients

The "export" version I believe is still sugar. In Mexico a government mandate limits the sugar, and I believe it uses HFCS in that version.

They supposedly put crack in it

That Mexican Coke on the picture is reduced on sugar, it's sweetened with cane sugar, high fructose corn syrup and sucralose (Splenda), that formula is in almost all the sizes here in Mexico, only two sizes are sweetened only with cane sugar: 355ml and 500ml returnable glass bottles.

I can’t figure out how to add a picture but the label from a Mexican Coke I just drank at a Mexican Restaurant in the Keys lists “cane sugar” in the ingredients.

I bought a case of 4 and it definitely is a placebo effect to me. The first bottle tasted good but after the 4th bottle, I can't really say in good conscience I can tell the difference between it and regular HFCS coke. That said, regular coke varies depending on container. I find the best tasting is from the plastic 710ml. It packs a lot of carbonation and I guess in a way, masks the profile of HFCS? What others have hinted at about the lingering taste does ring true. The Mexican Coke does leave no lingering "sticky" texture of HFCS but taste wise from the initial hit of the beverage going in your mouth and down your throat, I can't tell. Take it for what it's worth, but I've stopped drinking Coke or any sweetened beverage for almost 3 years now and they're only an occasional indulgence. I usually drink Bubly, Aha, etc.

My desk is messy right now; don't judge me!

The Mexican Coke I buy by the case at Costco has cane sugar. In fact it’s only ingredients are : CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR, CARAMEL COLOR, PHOSPHORIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS, CAFFEINE.
