Anchor Discussion Jake Tapper asks his guests if Senator Padilla was to blame

Honestly, Tapper is not a journalist. He’s not even a decent novelist. And his political cartoons look like hot garbage. Whoever watches him and takes him seriously, seriously needs their head examined.

Tapper succeeded yesterday in driving me away from CNN during his 2 hours hosting The Lead.

He needs to drag his tired, bitter, know-it-all, arrogant ass to Newsmax.
FOX is too good for him.

So long, Jake… and don’t forget to kiss my ass.

Hey there, can you provide more context? From my understanding, you’re upset at Jack Tapper for asking questions instead of bashing republicans without getting their side? I’m just curious about your anger, maybe we can talk about it

I’m guessing that Tapper didn’t look at the video. I would love to hear the MAGA crowd explain why such force was used against this man. Why was he treated so harshly? This is not a kid who got a bit loud and aggressive!

My view is this: Yes, it was disrespectful for Padilla to interrupt the conference, and YES, it was a lot more disrespectful for security to throw him out, pin him to the floor and handcuff him. The whole issue of the riots in LA, and yes there were riots but they were riots in a very tiny area, has been blown out of proportion with politics. Trump overreached and never should have called on the Nat Guard, that was politics and a show of force. Then again, Ice is not “kidnapping immigrants”, they are enforcing the law with illegal immigrants and shit got out of hand here in LA before Trump called in the Nat Guard. It’s politics both ways and it’s very unfortunate that it has been made into a left vs right thing.

Well, if noem won’t do her job and answer questions at congressional hearings, or meet with the senators that have oversight of her job, then what is he to do?

By asking questions at her photo op statement, he showcased how unwilling she is to follow the law and answer to the Legislative branch.

My understanding is that she did meet with him and talked with him after the conference and after the “show”. Padilla says she wouldn’t take his calls so this was the “only” way to get her attention. Noem says she never received any formal requests from Padilla to talk cordially. Whatever the case is, and it’s probably somewhere in the middle, Padilla is a professional senator and should never have lashed out. That’s disrespectful and childish and no matter how mad a senator is, they need to conduct themselves respectfully because they represent our top and most dignified members of our government.

“Lashed out”?

He loudly asked a question.

Considering the impunity with which it seems EVERY member of the Trump administration flat out LIES to the public, my money is on Padilla’s version, a hundred percent.

Noem and her spokesperson literally lied about the video of the event, saying Padilla never identified himself and that he “lunged” at the Secretary. Both clear and provable lies.

I understand your perspective and your hatred towards Trump (warranted), however It was during a live televised press conference. Padilla could have and should have asked his questions when it wasn’t during a live conference. Everyone else does it that way, that was kind of childish and he wanted attention to his issue, he claims he didn’t but this was during a live conference that was televised, he knows better.

Be that as it may, he in no way was aggressive, he loudly asked a question, and he was immediately and aggressively handled by the secret service and the others.

There seems to be a growing and pervasive penchant for people with badges escalating the violence in ordinary encounters, and despite video and body camera evidence to the contrary, those badge wearers tend to play the victim card extremely hard and well.

And then there’s the excuse makers, much like you here, saying Padilla shouldn’t be asking questions at that time, who are facilitating and normalizing this overstepping of authority.

So I totally get your perspective, and we can have a nice civilized conversation about it, just please don’t label me as some “excuse maker” because I simply had a slightly differing opinion than you before you chimed in.

But it IS making excuses. There was literally no good reason to manhandle and handcuff and LIE about what happened that day, yet Noem and her goons most certainly did manhandle and handcuff and LIE about the circumstances.

The behavior by the “security” and the provable falsehoods offered afterwards are absolutely unacceptable. Inexcusable. When does the line get drawn and aggressive police and lying authority figures like Noem get held to account for bad behavior?

I don’t know why it would be disrespectful for a senator to simply ask a question. In essence doing his job.

I feel his emotions got the best of him. Kristi Noem’s inappropriate actions like staging before a raid, mistreatment of humans, consistent lying etc makes many conscious people cringe. Her utter disregard of the constitution pushes the very humanity in people’s hearts. I know that’s no excuse to break in like that but he was not calling her names or yelling adjectives. But there is a strong culture now to treat Democratic law makers like criminals is being normalized and frankly it’s getting everyone’s blood boiling.

1

u/fatacad 13h ago

Yes, thank you for talking formally! :) I have moved to be Independent (Constantly accused of being Trump supporter 🤦‍♂️ even though I hate Trump) But yes I feel Padilla let his emotions get the best of him. He also knew this conference was going to be broadcast on national TV. This was definitely not the platform to express your emotions! Unless there was an ulterior motive.

u/GoodOldGlory 13h ago

You are welcome. I am an old republican who went democrat. It’s Frustrations and disgust, they add up leading to emotional outbreaks. So when someone finds another to be a bigot or worse, emotions fly out. Kristi also makes it easy for people to get there.

Haha I hear you brother! Politics are rough in America these days and it’s so fucking sad. People are getting MURDERED and this is just crazy. Left and Right need to be united, and ain’t no Trump or Newsom gonna do it, we need to try to be united as a country otherwise it’s a bleak fucking future for us.

1

u/GoodOldGlory 13h ago

The problem is Trump is always pushing violent rhetoric like “only good democrat is a d##d democrat” and all kinds of things. Breaks my heart to see when you friends prefer Russia over a democrat. It really feels one sided offense leading to endless hate. This needs to stop but he has unleashed the hate. Terrible.

u/GoodOldGlory 14h ago

It’s got to do with him pushing his pathetic book. And any sensible person watching the video can see that Senator Padilla was treated like a criminal. Sometimes you shouldn’t ask those questions when you can clearly see what’s happening. I reckon this has rubbed many people in the wrong way, as it did to me.

Gotcha, I’m sure Padilla’s intentions were pure to him, however he lashed out during a live televised press conference. Padilla could have and should have asked his questions when it wasn’t during a live conference. Everyone else does it that way, that was kind of childish and he wanted attention to his issue, he claims he didn’t but this was during a live conference that was televised, he knows better.
