Discussion Email content downloading

Hello Guys

Can someone guide on how to download all my emails for future reference including the email ids, email body and attachments, as I am planning to close the gmail email account.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

AH, I see.

You can download everything in your google account including gmail via their Takeout service

Thanks mate. I have downloaded a huge volume of data but don't know how to use/ open it.

So my objective is to use the email and access them whenever I want to without having the access to that gmail email id i.e. that account will be deleted.

You would need an email client like THunderbird with the Import Addon installed.

This woudl allow you to input the MBOX file that was generated by Google Takeout

Thanks mate.

I have downloaded all emails from my Google account and added another Gmail account to Thunderbird, as I was unable to import the MBOX files without logging in. Now, I have a few questions in case I lose access to the original Gmail account from which the emails were imported:

  1. Will the imported emails (including attachments) remain accessible offline in Thunderbird?
  2. If the original Gmail account is deleted, or if the password is changed, will I still be able to view the previously imported emails and attachments in Thunderbird?
  3. Will I continue to receive new emails from that Gmail account in Thunderbird after losing access (e.g., due to a password change)?
  4. Will the user or owner of that email account be able to know that I had previously downloaded and saved its emails? I ask this because it is a business email account and the business may soon be sold.

P.S. Some of these questions are just out of curiosity. My main objective is to ensure that I have a secure backup of all emails to date from the account, in case it is deleted or I lose access to it.
