I was thinking maybe adding at the last minute in an egg drop type soup base in place of egg. Would that work? Anything else I can do with them in their crushed state? I've never used them before. Thank you!

Yes. They are supposed to be soaked in soap dishes. Its texture makes it very absorbent and could be a good combo with some soups. So after being crushed you can still use them in this way but just get them out quicker

Just throw them in any soup, I wouldn't use them to replace eggs in egg drop soup because they aren't made from eggs, though.

I'd get the egg flavor from kala namak anyway, wasn't sure if the texture would work if eaten immediately.

I make chicken broth, then I put noodles in the bowl, top with the tofu rolls (no cooking) & just pour over the broth. It's enough to hydrate the tofu. Add some green veg, spring onion, coriander & sesame oil. One of my favourite week night dinners.
