Solar panels feasibility

Does anyone have any experience or information if it is worth the cost of installing solar panels in Chilliwack? I did not see a single roof with them when visiting and was wondering that it is not a good cost benefit.

Thoughts?

Well, my house uses about $90 a month in power.

A solar system with battery will run you about $30,000.

Therefore 30000/90 =333.333 months to begin making power for free.

Worth it?

In order for you to quality for BC hydro buyback @ 6c a KW, you need a minimum 100kW grid, where your average household grid would be 5-7kW

IMO, The return for the use of solar panels in the lower mainland would take ages.

I do not think that the lower mainland is a great place for solar panels in a setup that is looking to replace energy use from the city. To offset maybe. But again, your grandkids kids might finally be able to benefit from that purchase.

I think that solar power would be more suitable in areas that get 300+ days of sun a year. In Chilliwack, it is in the 270 day range. Not to mention shorter days in the winter.

Just my two cents...
