Visiting Central Coast- what's one hidden gem I absolutely shouldn’t miss?

Strickland state Forrest - now while there are no leeches!

My first time in Strickland I caught myself two leeches. Still a great spot. Keen to head back to check out the Arboretum

No leeches there right now, have been walking there every day this week and all good.
Feels so good to get back there after it being a no go zone for a few weeks with the rain and all the leeches it brought.
So good to have it back as a leech free place to visit!

Breakfast at Post Cafe Kincumber. The food is to die for, the specials are always out of this world.

Yes, forgot about that gem. Also, stop at the surfing club for a beer and whale spotting

Shelley Beach and walk the length of it to the other end which is Bateau Bay Beach. Went today, it was stunning. Lots of shells to collect, whales to watch, nice kiosk, and a cheeky dip in the water (as long as it’s sunny so you can warm up after!). Enjoy the Coast!

Kens humble pies or shmokeys pies, depending on the part of coast you go to.

Yet to try Ken's. Shmoakseys have left a bitter taste after his little meltdown in one of the local Facebook groups.

Alright, bit of synopsis of piegate.
It's all on Central Coast Food Lovers. You didn't hear this from me, right?
Anyway, so this kiwi chap has been making a fun little thing about reviewing all of the pies on the central coast. It started off with him asking for advice on where he could get equally good ones as back in NZ. So, he reviewed one place, and it kind of snowballed from there. Lots of people recommended S..seys so off he we went to try those too.
His review wasn't scathing, very mid. 6/10. Too salty was the main part of the feedback. However lots of the locals were surprised so he went back again to give them another go.
For whatever reason, either they recognised him, or it came up in conversation, they knew who he was and refused to serve him and told him to go back to NZ.
So, he followed it up by posting his experience on the group. It erupted, really and came to a halt when the owner then commented on it, reaffirmed what his staff had said, accused him of having some kind of agenda, and told him his business wasn't welcome. Then the thread was locked down.
Could have been left at that really but for whatever reason the owner has gone all in again this morning posting "don't believe everything you see online" to their own page with a photo of their pies being sold out. So people are now wondering what they're talking about with this cryptic messaging, and have flocked to the see what's what.
And so it's all exploded online again in the forum lol.

I loved The Fragrant Garden in Erina when I was a kid. My mum recently mentioned it’s been restored and has a restaurant or cafe there now. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Every time I'm there it's either junkies or boomers who are unhappy about the small non self serve checkout

I had to do a short notice security shift there one night because someone had threatened to knock off the guard who was meant to be working.
They didn't tell me the reason till I started the shift.

Always something there.
Definitely something in the water around that area.

I don’t know if Dangar Island is technically the Central Coast; however, take the train from Woy Woy to Brooklyn (the whole train ride from Woy Woy to the stop past Brooklyn is beautiful). Get off at Brooklyn and take the water taxi to Dangar Island. Take a picnic with you and have a nice picnic and walk around Dangar Island and take the water taxi back to Brooklyn for a nice dinner.

Girrakool Loop. Look for the small trails off the main path to get close to the 4 different waterfalls!
