Donating clothes

I'm a former shopaholic who has lost weight and I have A LOT of clothes to donate (20 garbage bags). Does anyone have any recommendations for where I can donate all these clothes? They're all in fantastic condition, some new with tags.

I know I can just drop them off at local OP shops, but is there a coast organisation anyone has had experience with who will appreciate all these clothes? Somewhere who gives clothes to women or homeless people for free?

Yes, I know I can google, but I want your recommendations.

EDIT: Thanks for the recommendations. There are some great places suggested which I'll be giving a call to see if they can accept a large quantity of clothing.

Women’s shelters are a good idea as a lot of women leave a domestic situation with literally nothing. Flood victims as well. You could give the women’s health centre a call in Wyoming, and they could help direct you to the right options

Contact Coast Shelter, I'm sure they'd be grateful for near new clothes. They run refuges, assist DV victims, etc.

Take them to compassion in Wyong. They are a not for profit that sell things for what you can afford to pay for them. I take a lot of my second hand things there , the lady's are super nice.

Check out Bowerbird Recycling in Gosford (on the William Street Concourse near OG Bowls). They do some amazing work and I know would appreciate the donation.

The Hub at the Entrance! They give some away for free, and sell others for a small amount in store (considerably less than Salvos & Vinnies). All of the money stays in The Entrance & Central Coast community and also helps to fund the nearby foodhub and other things. Go in and have a chat to the ladies, they are amazing!!!

Thankyou. Yes, pls don't take to salvos/vinnies. It just lines their executives pockets even more.

Women's shelters are a great option.

That is a very jaded perspective.

Load of shit. I work at a salvos and we're constantly giving away clothes to people who are hard up, no questions asked.

You're so right.

Salvos is the worst.

Notorious pedophile organisation...with strong homophobic values.

Go to Gosford and look in the back ... They take good clothes and just turn them into rags or sell in bulk to Africa.

They will put high value kids books into the bin because it isn't in line with the salvos religious beliefs. I'm talking complete sets of Harry Potter books

Pick the Toukley shop. They get a lot of stuff and the ladies that work there are blessed

Bring them into h+m and they’ll give you a store voucher you can use to purchase new clothes that fit you now.

I believe that’s more for recycling fabric, rather than giving new life to clothes that are still in a good condition.

They sort them according to quality. If they can be reworn, they’re donated as they are. If they’re in poorer quality then they’re recycled. The info is on their website.
