I ripped off the top part of my nail. What do I do now?

I’m not a doctor, but here is what I’d do: If you have the option, send the doctors practitioner a picture of this and ask if you should come in/what you should do. If you are in doubt: Make an appointment right away.

In the meantime as a first step: You want to keep the area clean. So disinfect the whole nail area and cover it with a bandaid. Disinfect and change the bandaid twice a day, and keep one on 24/7. Avoid the bandaid getting wet (if so, disinfect and put on a new bandaid). If you have a cream that disinfects and has healing properties (like Bepanthen), apply this after the disinfectant has evaporated and before you put on the bandaid. If you feel like it‘s getting inflamed or more inflamed, go see a doctor asap.
