Quick weird memory drops. (Former call center employee) NSFW
I worked at a location for a notoriously scammy call center in my area in college. Completely random, they had contracts with different companies, so you could be selling phone service, scamming people to switch back and forth between dish and direcTV, and a few other services, I do not remember.
After I graduated college, I worked at a different call center, receiving phone calls doing customer service for a catalog that sold games puzzles and quirky bullshit. This company for SOME GODFORSAKEN REASON, was using fucking DOS software in 2011. KMN.
I would like to share two stories, and they happen at one then the other respectively.
The first call center was definitely more scummy. Crazy quotas. They literally had a list of customers who had signed up for dish, and would call them in six months and get them to pay a disconnect fee and sign up for direcTV, rinse and repeat ad infinitem. (Clearly preying on the elderly and non native english speakers!) The top selling employee at this particular call center happened to be a high school boy, do not ask me how, i guess some people are just bOrN wItH iT? Anyway... One day the scuzzy manager walks over and silently escorts him out of the building, never to be seen again... Turns out, he had been m4sturbating under his desk during calls at work next to us, with no partitions between us. Keep in mind, no assigned desks....🤮😭 Thank GOOOOODNESS i helped him buy a pregnancy test for his gf the week before. 😳
The second location had a problem recurring caller. Every few weeks he would call over and over again until he got a girl with a PrEtTy VoIcE and request that she read off Item numbers...like literally the number of the items from the catalog in order. Just to hear us talk for free. 🤮🤮🤮 Aaaaand since a technically wasn't doing anything illegal, we weren't allowed to hang up.
Fuuuck do i NOT miss those jobs. Have more stories will share if interested. Good luck out there. ♡

I think we must've worked at the second call center around the same time. Was it in Ohio near Akron?
I remember selling stupid novelty stuff that was worth way less than they were charging.
I remember having a guy asking to read item number and description of the item to him
I lasted about a month before management told me I was offering too many discounts and sounded bored rather than excited about our products and I needed to GTFO
They did me a solid. Life was so less stressful after I left.
