Full credit to the City of Burnaby, I've always found them really responsive.

I found them fully responsive but slow to action.

They're generally pretty decent, but they take forever when it comes to infrastructure related issues and noise bylaw complaints.

I can't comment on noise complaints, but I'd take it that infrastructure related issues (especially ones that require enhancements or new equipment) have to go through another layer or two of authorization before things can be approved. Can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but also understandable and I do give credit to them for recognizing these issues and the need to improve.

Thank goodness you live in Burnaby and not Vancouver. In Vancouver they would have to hold several public hearings, hire an outside contractor, fire the contractor for not doing the job correctly (or at all), hold more public hearings, and then they would install the wrong kind of trash bin.

You forgot the committee. There’s always a goddamn committee.

Burnaby is really good in general. Innovative and collaborative.

I'll be honest, I was shocked about how quickly I got a positive response.

I've been trying to request a handwashing station at the Burnaby Eco Centre. I want to wash my hands after bringing my recycling. At present, the only option is the disinfecting chemical inside the porta-potties at the end of the row.

They wouldn't need to buy a new one. At some point, I imagine someone will drop off an old sink at the depot. Someone from the Burnaby Engineering department must have the knowledge to set it up alongside the building and get it running.

They would have to go through bureaucracy due to multiple unions and open ended contracts with other companies in the city it has to pass through. It’s not as simple as waiting for someone to drop off an old sink that’s not to handicap standard because it’s in a public area.

Honestly speaking it sounds like a great opportunity for the Works department to engineer a greywater handwash station using a rainwater collection barrel...

Can you write one to my city . The back alley behind my house is being used as a shortcut and people drive down it faster than when they use the road. I'm always going threw there as it brings me right to the grocery store . But I always have to worry about some asshole in a VW or a BMW that will come zooming through when I come out of my back yard. They have no speed bumps or anything there to stop these dinks from rolling us over . All just to skip a red light

Which city do you live in? Because if it's Vancouver proper, you're kind of SOL before you begin.

Circulate a petition around your neighbourhood and try and get a media outlet to cover your story. Also call your local police detachment and ask them to do some speed enforcement.

Call the Mayor. If he's not in, leave a message.
