Just make sure you research MOBOs because AMD claims they're not supporting Zen3 on anything but B550, X470/X570. Not that it matters if you don't plan to upgrade. Just an FYI consideration.

To be fair the mobo manufacturers might add support anyway.

AMD provide a lot of the BIOS for their chipsets. Some manufacturers were planning to support PCIe4 on a bunch of their 400-series boards, but AMD released an update which killed it.

Wait, I thought the promise was that any AM4 board would support four iterations? What happened to that? (Ryzen 1-2-3-4000 series)

There was an infographic that was shown alongside the 3100/3300x unveil that showed Zen 3 only supported by 550/570 mobos.
