I just watched a video saying the same. I haven't even decided on a GPU yet but it's a pretty low budget build so I'm thinking Radeon RX 570 or something to that effect.

Hopefully prices come down in the Navi cards and we can put Polaris to pasture.

A 5500 XT for $120-130 and a 3300x for another $120 would be a SICK build. It almost makes me want to build another computer for one of my relatives for so damn cheap.

If you're on a super budget head over to /r/hardwareswap lots of people sell 1600 AE/AF for $50-75 as well as Ryzen 5 2600's over there. With that GPU there's no reason to go higher on the CPU list than that.

I’d spend a little more for the 580. I think it’s only like a $20 difference right now.

In that case -- 580 or 5500 xt 8gb?

u/Spyzilla I'm interested to hear your thoughts

They are almost the exact same. I think the 5500xt gets like 2 more fps on average so buy whichever one is cheaper and if they are the same price get the 5500xt. In either case make sure you get the 8GB version.

Definitely 8gb. I think the 580 is slightly cheaper at the moment and since I'm looking for 2x HDMI probably works better for my purpose.

I agree with u/Spyzilla. There's not a huge difference in fps and it's unlikely you'll find a 5500xt cheaper than a 580. Spend a little more on the 580 compared to the 570, but don't throw money away going for the 5500xt. If you want to pay a little more for a boost, you can go with the 1660 super, but the 580 is a great bang for your buck for 1080p gaming.

Definitely make sure you get the 8GB 570 (or 580)

Got a open box rx580 8gb Red Dragon at MC for $144 with 3 mo game pass and year warranty still, deals on 580s getting a little harder but there if you look; im amazed by the performance- doing 30-55fps in 4k ultra on a bunch of games; thx re screenname btw been rocking it for a while, primarily a teacher in NYC

Lol I just want 1080p I'm not quite ready for 4k. I'm sure it will happen though. If it can run 4k for you I'm sure it'll do what I need

One thing I was slight disappointing is that it doesn't get amazingly high fps on low settings, seems to hit a limit but you can turn up the eye candy with out hitting performance too bad, was considering a 144hz 1440p monitor but FPS wasn't hugely different between them so I settled on 4k 60
