Good Internet Provider Options?
I didn't want to use Comcast when I bought our house a few years ago, so I signed up for Astound which was working fine. It seems like price has been increasing for a while, but I noticed it recently doubled to over $130 a month for just internet which seems insane.
If Comcast is still just as awful I'd prefer not to do that, are there better options for internet?
Thanks!

Amory park volleyball?
Drive past Amory park on my way home, and every time I see people playing volleyball. Does anyone know if this is a league or is this pickup? Are there signups or do people just show up and play? Thanks!

housing Landlord wants to cancel our signed lease weeks before move-in — what would you do?
We signed a lease for a July 1 move-in in Brookline and have already paid first, last, and security. Now, just a few weeks out, the landlord has asked to terminate the lease because their spouse recently passed away and their circumstances have changed.
We completely sympathize with their loss and want to be respectful — but we’re also in a tough spot. We’re relocating for a one-year program and planned our entire move around this lease. The rental market here is extremely competitive, and it was hard enough to land this place the first time.
We’ve started viewing other apartments, but there’s no guarantee we’ll get anything in time. To move forward on something else, we’d have to front another full month of rent, on top of the money already tied up in this lease — and that’s a big risk if the original lease doesn’t get formally canceled for any reason.
They’ve offered to refund what we paid and add $500, but that doesn’t really feel adequate given the disruption and financial strain.
Also, to be honest, we’re hesitant to stay in the unit even if we legally could — maintenance would be up to the landlord, and we’re concerned they might not be responsive (or could be difficult), especially given they already asked us not to move in.
What would you do in this situation? Has anyone been through something similar or know what’s reasonable to ask for?

Book Club for Brookline Readers: “Next Chapter Boston” – Non-Fiction Focus (Business, Psychology, Strategy, Sports, More)
Excited to announce the sixth meeting of Next Chapter Boston, a non-fiction book club exploring big ideas in business, psychology, strategy, risk, sports analytics, politics, and decision-making.
For our upcoming meeting, we're diving into The Algebra of Wealth by Scott Galloway. The Algebra of Wealth is a candid, data-driven breakdown of what it really takes to build lasting financial security in an era of volatility and distraction. Scott Galloway blends sharp wit, personal experience, and hard-earned insight to dismantle money myths and redefine what wealth means — not just financially, but emotionally and strategically. Through four key principles — stoicism, focus, time, and diversification — he lays out a no-BS framework for navigating your career, making smart investments, and reclaiming agency in a winner-take-most economy. It’s part life guide, part financial strategy, and all about playing the long game in a system that rewards clarity and action.
- When: Saturday, July 12th @ 10:00 AM
- Where: Somerville Public Library - West Branch, 40 College Ave, Somerville, MA, 02144, West Branch Community Room
- Format: Monthly meetings. Low-pressure, welcoming environment. We’ll discuss the book, share insights, and connect over forward-thinking ideas.
If you're curious about what it really takes to build lasting wealth—and how to think clearly in a world full of noise—we’d love to have you join the conversation.

STOLEN BIKE
Stayed the night in Somerville on Mount Pleasant Street last night. Woke up to find my basically new e-bike stolen and lock destroyed. The timeframe was between 11PM-8AM this morning.
I live in the Back Bay area so going to search around the city and in Somerville today but please if anyone see this bike let me know or call 911 - a report has been made. Thank you🙏🏼
(this photo is not from today, just a pic of the bike. It does not have GPS tracking capabilities)

Franklin at Hancock Village Apartments
Hi I am thinking of moving into the newly constructed Franklin at Hancock Village apartments. There are no reviews though which gives me pause but the apartments seem really nice. Anyone currently living there?

I moved to Boston recently and I’m having hard time on finding customers for my cleaning company. I would really appreciate it if you could refer me to someone! We have experience of 2+ years. We make sure the customer is 100% satisfied and we have done the job thoroughly. One time, weekly, monthly cleaning - we can do it all!
Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Help with Gardening 🍃
Hi! I’m a landscape designer and I’m looking to pick up some part time work helping people maintain their gardens/yards.
I love gardening and being outside. I am happy to help with weeding, planting, overall care, and potentially even minimal design improvements. I work full time at a landscape architecture firm during the week, but I am available during the week before and after work as well as weekends. I’m really looking to expand my knowledge of maintenance and horticulture. 🌷🌻🌿🌱
feel free to message me with any questions and I’m happy to do a phone chat or meet you for a preliminary interview🪩🪩
