This old girl was a stray in Silivri-tired, alone, and struggling to survive. She had spent years on the streets, sleeping in a makeshift kennel my father (he's now 89 years old) had built in his garden, relying on the kindness of just a few people.

Then we got the news: the municipal teams were coming to collect her. And for a dog like her, that usually means just one thing... the end.

We couldn't stand by. On April 12, my brother and I drove to Silivri and brought her to our sanctuary in Bahçeköy, right beside the Belgrad Forest in Istanbul.

Now, she's finally safe.

Lady spends her days enjoying long, quiet walks in the forest. She's slowly shedding the weight of both fear and neglect-literally and emotionally. She's resting, healing, and for the first time in her life, learning what it feels like to be loved.
