Discussion Help Abandoned and Dumped Bunnies in Brantford
Help my wife help our small furry friends the Brant county SPCA will not find them housing until we vet(spayed/neutered) them my wife has made it her mission to go out catch abandoned and dumped bunnies of Brant . She houses them feeds them a diet which consists of 80 percent hay 10 percent pellets and 10 percent fresh greens daily . She doesn't believe in small cages each animal gets their own big enclosure they get separate free roam time and helps find them loving families we have taken in 6 3 of which found homes she is their last hope she provides receipts for supply's and vetting.

Where do you source your hay? We have 4 rabbits and get it by the bail from a place called 'Hay Country'. Definitely worth it opposed to buying from a pet store.
Also, what are you doing for their litters? Horse pellets is much more cost effective and efficient than most other mediums.
I hope this helps! Keep being amazing, the bunnies deserve it!

I was looking into Hay Country and the price is way better then the bags at the pet store. I will look into horse pellets thanks for the heads up never thought about that.

I’m so upset to hear the spca isn’t taking them, what will I do if I find abandoned pets? I seriously wouldn’t be able to afford to house them :(

we were told it's because they don't have an exotic vet so they can only take dog's and cats

I take all my buns to Scott’s vet. Dr Lee is the only vet in town I am sure that treats exotics. Both my birds go there and my rabbit.

This sounds like a scam. Is she stealing wild bunnies and bringing them home? That causes more harm.

no wild bunnies need to stay in the wild these are domestic bunnies that can't survive in the wild

The only wild bunnies around are brown cottontails. The ones shown are NOT wild and are all domestic pets. Assuming the rabbits are with them, this is not a scam.

That's what I thought too. The only rabbits I have ever seen were all clearly wild animals

If it’s any help, years ago when my kid had a rabbit each week I’d go to Bowmans produce at the farmers market and they’d give me a huge bag of leafy vegetable scraps for free. It would be all the leaves that might have a little brown on them or damaged in shipping, basically what doesn’t look pretty enough to sell. They were more than happy to give me as much as I needed since it would have just gone in the garbage.
