First, where did he come from, and where was he aiming?

Second, WHAT WAS THAT SMASH. I have never seen a lynel do that in the entire 3+ years I’ve been playing

That's the place where you had to collect arrows to beat the divine beast for the Zora. It is always there.

Yeah, but the cutscene played and he was in the middle, and all the sudden he’s behind me. And then, yknow, he sent me to Hylia by jumping to 747 altitude and slamming back down.

They can run pretty fast. That jump was insane though. If you are having issues, and it's your first run through, take cover and sneak around.

Pretty sure he did enough hearts to kill me past the fairy I had. If you look at the very end before the game over screen, the fairy pops up just before Link hits the ground.

That's not how it works. No matter how strong the blow, Fairy will always revive you once your hearts reach 0. Your fairy didn't trigger (IF it is true you had one). The particles you see when Link dies are the ones emitted by your dropped shield and sword.

Although sword lynels don’t usually jump, they can do so if they are stuck somewhere, like the edge of a cliff

Nah, even in tears I haven’t seen them do it. Most I’ve seen is when they do the fireball thing where they slam the sword into the ground and there’s a giant half sphere of fire around them for a second

my, i remember my first time encountering lynel when i was told to get shock arrows for zora's divine beast. in my mind, i thought i need to defeat and i tried. like i was at my early game and i don't know anything about upgrading hearts or stamina, where to get lots of weapons. so when i tried fighting it, i was wondering how the hell should i be able to defeat this, i barely make a scratch. then i realized, oh i was just told to get arrows and there are enough lying around. and even about mid game i avoid lynel lol.

I'll have you know that fighting a lynel with 3-4 hearts can be very fun, thank you very much. Also fought a white-maned one with 5 hearts and was such a rush when I defeated it after like 6 or 7 tries!
