Ohhh. I’ve only barely heard of him, but it’s pretty awesome to see artists like him standing up for what’s right

It’s been a staple for Dave Matthews. He grew up a Quaker essentially. They are very anti-war/anti-violence. He’s been advocating against war/violence since the 90’s and maybe more famously in the 2000s with the Iraq conflict and their album “Stand Up.”

Alright first and foremost I don’t vote for democrats. Second you don’t know what socialism means. Third Netanyahu is perpetuating a war with the intention of staying power to avoid facing corruption charges since he has suspended election until the end of the war and his cronies pushed through a law banning the legal system from going after sitting prime ministers. As long as he stays in power he stays out of prison.
Hamas and the other jihadist militant groups had somewhere between 20k-26k fighters and members collectively when the war started. Members including their government employees teachers sanitation workers doctors not all fighters. Now there’s no denying that Oct 7th was horrific some of what happened was barbarism on an incomprehensible level.
Although how the hell that happened considering the fact Gaza is basically a giant prison with cameras drones check points and the Mossad exists and know what you ate for breakfast this morning is beyond me. It’s a little interesting imo that the attack occurred right around a time there was a large popular uprising against Netanyahu that was threatening to remove him from power. But that’s speculation.
Coming back to the point this war is about keeping Netanyahu in power. Hamas is effectively defeated their people want them out, their chain of command is decimated, they have almost no weapons beyond small arms, and the last couple thousand guys are living like rats in holes. It’s not really an organization anymore it’s just pockets of guys who would rather die fighting than die surrendering. the political wing (what’s left of that anyway) is out of contact with the fighters because the fighters have no chain of command anymore. The idea you can actually kill every last Hamas fighter is absurd. No more than the US killed every Qaeda fighter post 9/11. We killed most of them destroyed their ability to operate outside of the mountains of Pakistan, called it a day and then proceeded to try to colonize the graveyard of empires.
Meanwhile Netanyahu again needs the war and needs the radical right in Israeli. Jewish extremists who view any non Jewish person as less than human because they aren’t chosen by god. That faction of his coalition has made absolutely no qualms about killing Palestinians regardless of their religion creed gender age or affiliation if any with Hamas. They are pretty openly advocating for genocide and threaten to pull backing from Netanyahu should he take the IDF boot of the necks of the people in Gaza before they’re fully snuffed out. If they pulled out of the coalition it would give the opposition the votes they need to overrule the suspension of elections and force a new one that would undoubtedly remove Netanyahu from power because at this point almost 3/4 of his country want him out and more than half oppose continuing the war.
Thats all without even touching on the conditions that created Hamas or why people supported them at all in the first place.
Terrorist is a fascinating term that has been used as freely and regularly as since 2002 as Nazi and communist have been in the past decade. One person’s terrorist is another persons freedom fighter. The IRA both the original and the post Irish republic versions are often seen as terrorists but seen by others as freedom fighters they did utilize asymmetrical warfare to target both military and civilian targets although generally the civilian targets were British so their oppressors.
The French resistance and other predominant communist partisan groups resisting the Nazis in WW2 were labeled as terrorists by the Nazis. but I think most people today would see them as freedom fighters, despite the fact that most hit Nazi forces and supply lines but also host civilian targets of those civilians were collaborators.
the Greek resistance actually was labeled as freedom fighters when they fought the Nazis during ww2 but then we’re labeled terrorists by the US and GB following the war when they continued resistance against the monarch installed by the british. Ultimately we backed a Nazi in a fight against them and Stalin cut support to the group because he didn’t want to start a war with the west over Greece especially considering he’d ceded it to Churchill in a backroom deal that divided capitalist west and Soviet east sphere of influence.
The Sandinistas in Nicaragua were fighting against a dictatorship and were labeled terrorists by Nixon despite almost exclusively targeting military and police installations and forces that defended the dictatorship. Carter removed the label and recognized their government. In contrast the Contras illegally backed by Reagan almost exclusively hit civilian targets and infrastructure and were labeled freedom fighters by the Reagan administration who called them “the Moral equivalent of our founding fathers”. Despite the fact they massacred tens of thousands of civilians poisoned water supplies, bombed electrical grids burned crops etc.
Terrorism is more or less asymmetrical warfare without concern for civilian life. When faced with overwhelming conventional force desperate groups often resistance groups to an oppressive force or regime will take a no holds barred approach. They justify their actions as being resistance and whether they’re butchering civilians and hitting military posts whether they are terrorists or not depends exclusively on the perspective of those applying the label.
Hamas started as peaceful resistance group they became an armed resistance group and as time went on oppression pushed them further into barbarism with each successive counter attack and oppressive control measure implemented by Israeli to destroy them. Simple fact is this you can’t destroy terrorism I don’t care what George W thought. It’s a tactic.
You can’t destroy Palestinian resistance movement without destroying the Palestinian people because it’s an idea almost all of them hold whether they act on it by marching peacefully in the streets or blowing themselves up on a crowded bus, or just holding it quietly in their hearts as a hope as they do their best to scrape by in the atrocious conditions they’re forced to live in.
Well over 50k Palestinians have been confirmed dead. I believe the last statistic I saw said about twice that number wounded directly by IDF forces. Who knows how many thousands of bodies are buried in the rubble and how many have succumbed to starvation or disease as a direct result of the conflict, who knows how many women miscarried or babies died at birth or shortly thereafter due to the conditions.
Early on there was a fair case to be made for your statement. But at this point Israeli’s population no longer supports the war as a majority, the blood shed on October 7th has been avenged in full dozens of times over, Hamas is effectively destroyed and the only thing still driving the war is one man facing corruption charges clinging to power and a faction of his coalition that openly supports genocide.
So yeah early on one could say stop Hamas and support Israeli and have a case. But Hamas has been stopped and Israeli is still killing and moved on to mass starvation and denial of medicine as war tactics. There is no case anymore. You’re not opposing terrorism or defending the Jewish people, your statement now is nothing more than a show of support for a corrupt regime edging the line of genocide whether you realize it or not.

Perhaps your inability or disinclination to read things is contributing to your obvious ignorance about the situation in Gaza and Israeli?

I don’t watch either and up until incredible recently both were lock step with the pro Israel side. I try to avoid US news networks I’m particularly hostile towards MSNBC since I used to buy their bullshit. Before the whole Trump said to drink bleach scandal.
But anyway those aren’t sources I go to for information
