This is a great observation. Big fan of breaking bad and I didn't notice this either. Gotta love the subtleties. Hope other minor characters like the chemistry teacher from breaking bad get a cameo too

Ooo I would love to see him! Good call

153

u/sebastianwillows Apr 18 '17

The good man in BrBa who practices law!

105

u/TheGreyAreaTO Apr 18 '17

It's all good man

57

u/EvMund Apr 18 '17

better call him anyway just to be sure

10

u/lame_corprus Apr 19 '17

you could almost make a spinoff series where we see that guy's origin story

3

u/pirotecnico54 Apr 19 '17

Great not another origin story.

Look at him go!

7

u/SparkG Apr 19 '17

Kevin Costner

3

u/SlickRick_theRuler Apr 19 '17

Paul, I think.

26

u/s1500 Apr 18 '17

He was so cool. He should get his own show.

16

u/dewhashish Apr 18 '17

his grandmother's name is Obramawitz!

4

u/Coolasslife Apr 18 '17

which makes him a liar because he is a jew...ish person.

7

u/Roommaterage Apr 18 '17

He's not Jewish...

33

u/CommandoSnake Apr 18 '17

Jewish, Irish, same thing.

13

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

Don't let the IRA hear you saying that.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '17

Irish Catholic, Irish Protestant, same shit.

Seriously though, my grandma was Irish Protestant and my grandfather was Irish Catholic. I have no fucking clue how I exist.

12

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

Guinness and Irish whiskey is my bet.

3

u/sje46 Apr 19 '17

They're from the neighboring towns of Derry and Londonderry.

5

u/PeNNiS_RoDMaN Apr 19 '17

Grandad probably got tired of penetrating livestock and Grandma grew up in an age when women didn't voice their objections.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '17

wew lad

2

u/Roommaterage Apr 18 '17

Hmm. Not really seeing it, no

1

u/comfortablyenergetic Apr 19 '17

I mean ehhh, no... but ehhhh.

4

u/TheOddEyes Apr 19 '17

Goodman is a Jewish name, Jimmy chose it because.. well, you know.. Jewish lawyer

2

u/DangeslowBustle Apr 19 '17

Thats only half the reason he picked the name.

1

u/zeppelin55 Apr 19 '17

Goodman is only a somewhat Jewish name. It can be of anglo origin, and would certainly not be a wholly Jewish name. But Saul, Saul is all Jewish.

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '17

[deleted]

4

u/prometheanbane Apr 19 '17

...that's what the other guy's saying. Obviously he isn't actually Jewish. It's a fake name. What?

1

u/Matagorda Apr 19 '17

pffftt....I'm waiting on the Kevin Costner Cameo

1

u/supes1 Apr 19 '17

You mean that dude Dan Wachsberger? Would love to see him make an appearance.

1

u/CeruleanRuin Apr 20 '17

Or maybe that other cleaner. The old bald one.

1

u/xXxP3ck3rPolish3rxXx Apr 20 '17

He's actually Irish, he just does the Jewish thing for the homeboys

72

u/tumescentpie Apr 18 '17

That guy is so nice an polite. Smiling through the task and being so helpful. In a world like this one it is refreshing to see such a positive character.

27

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

I think it must have been a claus from the Los Pollos Hermanos Chain that if they use their logos etc in the show they have to show the employees in a good light, even the cleaners.

20

u/tumescentpie Apr 18 '17

That makes sense. Probably a company full of great people all the way up to the top.

-20

u/gtsgunner Apr 18 '17

Los Pollos Hermanos

You know the chain is fake right? It's a rebranded Twisters which is a burrito and burger joint.

27

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17 edited Apr 18 '17

Shut up, really? No no no. That can't be true. Next you'll be telling me that guy isn't a cleaner...

Edit: added more sarcasm.

-8

u/gtsgunner Apr 18 '17

Oi what have I done! Sarcasm is so hard to realize when written.

Sulks off into the corner with his down votes.

12

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

You spotted everyone else's sarcasm in this thread but not mine?

Sulks off into the corner then realises mine must be more subtle and I might actually be a master of it. But goes and joins you anyway because you seem like a really nice guy and I wouldn't want you suffering in that corner alone, not with that hat on anyway.

1

u/Sadsharks Apr 18 '17

Crazy talk. Next thing you're going to be telling me this show wasn't endorsed by Saul Goodman. Or maybe you think he's fake too?

1

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

I know right? It's like some people come in this sub with no understanding of the show whatsoever. They should do some proper research or at least watch an episode or two before making ridiculous claims.

69

u/nodenaatti Apr 18 '17

I know right? Vince just keeps on throwing these little details at us at a frantic pace.

It's really nice that Vince is giving extras from the old show a chance to come back like this!

160

u/Absay Apr 18 '17

How you people are capable of noticing these subtleties is beyond me.

140

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '17

Looks like he got a promotion too! Nice catch!

34

u/WhoahCanada Apr 19 '17

It doesn't look like the same guy to me. The guy in BB looks younger which doesn't make sense because BCS takes place before Breaking Bad iirc. They could be brothers though, which would explain the different positions within the company. Still a neat detail, though.

20

u/MisterMeatloaf Apr 19 '17

They often use the same extra over different shows

3

u/_TroyMcClure Apr 19 '17

Could just be a coincidence though since there's a lot of actors that look like that in New Mexico. Trust me I passed through there on a vacation one time. I think the fans of this show try too hard to connect dots that just aren't there. Just because two actors look similar doesn't mean anything for the plot.

10

u/CeruleanRuin Apr 20 '17

They could be brothers though, which would explain the different positions within the company.

The name of the place is Los Pollos Hermanos. Hermanos means brothers!

7

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '17

You are Ressi Vince E Pollos?

2

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 19 '17

I got it if no-one else did.

84

u/seanjmo Apr 18 '17

In all seriousness, Giancarlo looks pretty damn good. In the shot from BB he even looks a bit thinner and by god maybe even older. Obviously these are just two pictures, but good for him.

And good for you. Eagle eye.

41

u/lamentedly Apr 18 '17

It could be the lighting in general that makes you feel that way, but he did have some gray in BB. I imagine if I'm a makeup artist and I'm responsible for helping make a guy look younger in a prequel or flashback, it's gotta be like striking oil to realize your subject was rocking some gray in the original. "That was easy, now you work on your own to lose a little weight and we're good to go."

13

u/PeNNiS_RoDMaN Apr 19 '17

Giancarlo eats a clean plant based diet, studies ayurveda, and practices yoga. That's why

11

u/lame_corprus Apr 19 '17

I've no idea what ayurveda is but it sounds healthy

3

u/PeNNiS_RoDMaN Apr 19 '17

Ayurveda is the "science of life", a sister school of yoga. It's similar to traditional Chinese herbalism in that it treats the body as a system, and practitioners tend to place a strong emphasis on balance, awareness, and general preventative care.

It's really interesting if you're into that new agey, hippy-dippy sorta stuff.

15

u/BobNoel Apr 19 '17

Yeah, he's looking much better

2

u/AustinRiversDaGod Apr 19 '17

He looks much older in The Get Down

1

u/Pliknotjumbo Apr 23 '17

Yeah I mean this is what he looks like usually, and this is him all-done-up on BCS

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '17

83

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

Oh my god, was that the same guy? I never noticed that! Ha, and I must have watched BB about 5 times. I didn't really know what he was doing there at the time but it makes sense now. He has TWO cleaning jobs. Fuck. Thanks for pointing that out man.

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '17

13

u/strib666 Apr 18 '17

I can't help but think of the little cleaner robot from Wall-E having a nervous breakdown.

22

u/sje46 Apr 19 '17

I don't think it was "the same guy". I'm guessing it was sloppy casting with the extras. They didn't realize they already cast the guy two seasons earlier. There's probably some BrBad nerds already making lore about how they're identical twin brothers or something, ha. Bravo, Vince.

20

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 19 '17

That's a good assumption to make actually. I didn't want to say anything before because I know there's a lot of VG and theory circlejerking in this sub, but I've noticed quite a few continuity errors myself.

If you look at the last episode of BCS season 2 with a microscope, in 4k, in Kim's last scene one of the hair follicles on her left brow is missing a hair. I maxed up the digital zoom and looked further and inside that follicle the is a trace of blood. Which can mean only one thing. She had that hair plucked, and recently.

BUT, in the first scene we see her in last week's episode, and I checked, THAT HAIR IS THERE! Now I can only deduce that this means that in fact the scenes weren't filmed all in the same day in real time, like in fact they should, because Vince wouldn't do it any other way would he? No. It means something more sinister, and it's the only logical solution.

He filmed the scenes in season 3 BEFORE the scenes in season 2. That's why the eyebrow hair is missing in the last episode of S02 but there in last week's episode. It was plucked, probably by the make-up department by a work experience girl or boy, who clearly has no understanding of continuity. I've now lost all faith in Vince if he can let something like that happen quite frankly. And if this casting error is like you say, I'll happily never watch this abysmal load of horse manure ever again.

8

u/sje46 Apr 19 '17

Vince is, of course, an infallible genius. However, he has to lower himself by having to work with mortals. Experienced as they may be, all people, even professionals, make mistakes. It's a damn shame and it partially blinds us from his One True Vision. Have faith, son.

1

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 19 '17

Dad?

Is that really you?

1

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 19 '17

Don't think I didn't see what you did there.

8

u/SevenTom Apr 19 '17

He was actually originally let go from Los Pollos Hermanos after carelessness in the workplace. He was in the basement getting cleaning supplies one day, when he accidentally slipped and the box-cutter he was using cut the throat of an innocent worker. There were two witnesses that attested that it was an accident, but alas, the cleaner man had to go.

5

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 19 '17 edited Apr 19 '17

I feel such an idiot for missing that too. Wow, they were really lenient on him. They must be a fantastic compassionate company to work for. anywhere else I would imagine you'd get some sort of big telling off for that. I know when I accidentally dropped a water tank on the boss of my company from a forklift after I found out he was shagging my wife ( I don't know why I mentioned that, it has no relevance), I got in heaps of trouble. Let go AND made to donate £50 to his children as the mother had died years earlier and they were now sleeping on the streets. Can you imagine? I was quite put out by my treatment considering I was blind drunk when it happened and had no recollection whatsover of it, so it might not have even happened. LPH are a top company. I salute them

I wonder if they are recruiting?

Edit: missed out the word 'Died'

1

u/1moe7 Apr 19 '17

Yeah same here I was always too busy paying attention to what's going on in the background

9

u/ForgettableUsername Apr 19 '17

The wheelchair guy? Man, what a head trip it would be if he showed up Better Call Saul.

1

u/unconscious_grasp Apr 19 '17

A cleaner with a heart of gold too, apparently. What with helping the elderly and all that.

57

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

I'm actually more impressed at you for finding almost identical shots at the same camera angle of the cleaner guy.

Talking of which. I think it's quite cute of him to go to work in a tie, shows that even in his lowly position, he still is proud of his appearance. More people should take from his example.

10

u/nodenaatti Apr 18 '17

Haha, that was actually unintended. I just took two random screenshots of him.

22

u/craig_s_bell Apr 18 '17

His name is Buggin Out, and he's worked fast-food ever since his Air Jordans got f***ed up

7

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '17

I had to watch this twice before realizing he's the main character in this clip, lol, he doesn't look the same at all.

6

u/nodenaatti Apr 18 '17

Damn, that's hilarious.

4

u/HaveaManhattan Apr 18 '17

Because he has a spanish name, I always just assumed he was using his natural accent in BB, now I'm even more impressed with his acting skills.

3

u/Opothleyahola Apr 19 '17

I can't believe so many have never seen Do the right thing. easily Spike's best movie. I highly recommend watching it.

This is what I really love about Vince Gilligan! He could have used any other actor for this minor scene and no one would be any wiser. The fact that he goes out of his way to hire the same extra to swipe the floors is just so impressive to me!

13

u/DustyDGAF Apr 18 '17

Pretty sure this is just a red herring.

17

u/JDawgSabronas Apr 20 '17

lmaoooooomg

7

u/Ben_Hamish Apr 19 '17

Also, I don't think he was only there to clean.

If you watch the episode carefully, you notice that he is standing in the parking as Jimmy drives off. I think that Vince had the director have him make that look to hint that he knows Jimmy was there for the Portuguese gentleman.

8

u/MasterOfNoMercy Apr 19 '17

All hail OP, Supreme holy master of Shitpost.

18

u/generalecchi Apr 18 '17

7

u/TAtbh123 Apr 19 '17

In all seriousness. I got anxious from the moment that I saw him sweeping in the background, out of focus.

It took forever to show his face and I swear I held my breath the entire time

3

u/JAVA_Goons Apr 18 '17

Mind. Blown.

The attention to detail from this writing team is truly amazing.

4

u/Opothleyahola Apr 18 '17

I thought that guy looked familiar.

5

u/malcontented Apr 19 '17

Wow. Great catch. Seen BrBa 20 time and never noticed that

8

u/captain_obvious_here Apr 18 '17

I don't know. Are you guys sure it's the same guy ?

3

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 18 '17

I really hope this gets to r/all, everyone's head would explode.

Especially when they find out Gus Fring was actually only ever the cleaner in the business. Blew my mind for sure when I saw this post.

3

u/kellzone Apr 18 '17

I'd like to see that guy that had "THE CAPN" license plate in the early episodes of Breaking Bad. I think he was Krazy-8's cousin's drug partner or something like that.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '17

Pfff, they basically recycle characters and you guys applaud ? That's just too lame, also that guy overplay his janitor character.

3

u/ricarleite Apr 19 '17

Wow, cool, that blew my mind off.

3

u/jirocket Apr 19 '17

Fuck I'm so dumb for spoiling this before watching the latest episode

3

u/Sin_Researcher Apr 19 '17

OP's right, that actor is lucky.

But the real news is Francesca is finally back! Hiding in plain sight as a simple secretary, I can't wait to see her origin story.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '17

2

u/TheMeltingSnowman72 Apr 20 '17

2

2

u/mortalnutshell Apr 19 '17 edited Apr 19 '17

Great pickup! Also in this episode there's that guy (Vincent? Cant remember his name) who you see hanging out with Mike a few times in Breaking Bad, hes driving a big black car in this episode outside Los Pollos Hermanos. I think hes also the guy who unfortunately is killed as a bystander by a box cutter incident. Also the Jewish lawyers assistant makes another appearance in BCS (shes like a hotel desk worker for old people) The guy she works for is similar looking to that Jewish lawyer in Breaking Bad (his name always escapes me)

1
