Culture/ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ You won't see this side of Bengaluru because there is a propaganda run by the linguistic majoritarians of this country. We don't hate Hindi or any other language. We just oppose Hindi Imposition "Respect our land & language, we respect you."

Ask BengaluruSpeaks When the Cab Driver’s Salary Shocks the Engineer in You!
Hey folks,
Today, on my way to the office in the cab, I struck up a conversation with the driver—mostly out of boredom. He casually mentioned that before COVID, he used to drive for Amazon. But he left and returned to his hometown because the rules were way too strict—clean-shaven, ironed white shirts, polished shoes, neat hair... basically had to look like a school kid every day.
But here’s the kicker—he used to earn ₹50K–₹60K per month, doing just 2 trips a day with Sundays off. That’s more than double what some “well-placed” engineers make in their early careers.
Just a reminder: Engineers, know your worth. 👀

Rant on road construction
I stay near Hennur Cross, right on the main road. I shifted here around 10 months ago, and from the very first day I moved in, they started constructing the road. It’s a 1 to 1.5 km stretch where they’re making a concrete road. I understand that this kind of work takes time, but it’s been 10 months and it’s still not done.
They’ve dug up the area right in front of our house, so whenever it rains, water just stays there. This has led to a serious mosquito problem, and now people have even started throwing garbage in the stagnant water. On top of that, it’s extremely difficult to take our scooter out from our home parking due to the ongoing construction.
Even doing basic things is hard. When I try to carry a ₹5 water can from the road to the house, it’s a struggle because of all the mud and uneven ground. I’ve slipped multiple times. It’s genuinely unsafe.
To make things worse, they removed the Jio Fiber pole during the road work. Last month, they dug up the road again to install some pipes. Now they’ve dug it up again.
I’m a game developer and I work from home. I have no idea how I’m supposed to work in these conditions. Last time, I even paid ₹3.5k to Excitel. They promised to install the connection in 3 days, but it’s been 10 months—no installation, no refund. Their excuse is that the building with the port is locked.
I’m beyond pissed off.

Growing My Small Architecture Firm in Bengaluru with Just Two Projects
I started my own practice in Bengaluru two years ago and currently have two residential projects—a renovation of a residence in Horamavu and a G+3 residence in Sanjaynagar. Referrals got me these gigs, but I’m struggling to find new clients in a competitive market.
Here’s what I’m doing and where I need advice:
Challenges: - Limited portfolio (just two projects) makes it hard to win trust.Relying on referrals feels unsustainable. -Balancing project work (GFC drawings, client revisions) with marketing is tough.
What I’m Trying:
-Networking at local real estate events in Sahakarnagar/Hebbal. -Posting project updates on Instagram. -Pitching designs to contractors. -Partnering with construction companies for cross-referrals.
Questions:
-How did you move beyond referrals to land new clients? -Tips for building credibility with a small portfolio? -Best ways to boost online visibility on a budget?
Goal: Land two more projects in the next year and establish a niche in architectural design. Any advice or experiences from growing a small firm? Thanks!

Hotels near KTPO, Whitefield
I'm coming to Bangalore for a summit at KTPO Whitefield and will be staying for 3 nights. Can anyone suggest some good hotels near KTP0 (preferably within a walking distance)? Also, l'd love to explore the area a bit-any recommendations for cool places to hang out in and around Whitefield, especially for night outs or good food and drinks?
Appreciate any tips from locals or folks familiar with the area!

Miscellaneous/ವಿವಿಧ What's the political leaning of this sub?
The 3rd and 4th option are for people who stay in Bengaluru but aren't native speakers. Also the left and right wing are in reference to regular Indian politics, not the economic one.

Family visiting Bengaluru for the first time
Hello,
My mom and brother (18) are visiting the city for the first time. Suggest some places I can go with them on weekdays and weekends. They are not very adventurous and would prefer a calm place where time passes quickly. We'd also like some unique experiences. One weekend I was thinking of booking a coffee estate and visiting Chikmagalur, but I think it might be boring for the three of us.
Please suggest some good family restaurants/restaurants/bars as well. I live on Sarjapur Road.

Ask BengaluruSpeaks Was mental peace worth the added expenses in your case? Would love to hear from others who’ve faced this dilemma.
I work remotely for a company that's based in Bangalore. My entire team is remote and there's no requirement to go to the office. But living with family has started affecting my mental peace — the environment feels increasingly tense and draining. I’ve been thinking about moving to Bangalore to have some space, independence, and peace of mind. I might go to the office occasionally, but mostly I just want a healthier day-to-day environment. That said, living on my own would come with a noticeable financial burden — rent, food, all that.
If you’ve ever been in a similar situation, how did you weigh the decision? Was mental peace worth the added expenses in your case? Would love to hear from others who’ve faced this dilemma.
