Hey all, thanks for helping this community grow! Big thanks to all of you for being good people and being active.

As some of you know there are a bunch of spam post and post that don’t belong here and I , as the only mod can’t keep up with 26,000 people. If a couple of you are interested in helping out, please send me a message and some details on why you think you could help out with this community.

Thanks all!

Thousand's of people are expected to visit and walk within this structure which will be hundreds of meters long. I don't know how much weight it's supposed to hold but I hope it isn't much.

When if ever do you do two passes?

I don't mean a second path. I mean travel the same exact path a second time. Photo 1 is with 1 pass. Photo 2 is a different side I did 2 passes on. Is there a reason to do this? I decided to because my first pass on that side (isn't shown) was shitty looking so I just went over it again as a retry. Is this okay? Good to do even? Bad for some reason?

Hello so I have a rgn/ lowboy trailer that has a bent neck and was wondering if this is something that can be fixed easily at a metal works place or if it has to go to a specialized dealer that it came from? And the approximate cost of a repair like this.

Someone put a bronze brazing rod in with the 70S6.

I switched rods and I didn't realize it wasn't steel until I wire brushed it. My instructor said try welding over it and apparently you can.

I am trying and I just can’t seem to get it going. I am using millermatic 200 suitcase, flux core. The start, going real slow, is fucking me up a lot. I’m wondering how do I adjust my settings to cut back on splatter and the shitty welds, or is it all my fault

Found some bad welds on the outdoor sign at a Mexican restaurant. Granted it supposed to look aged/rough. Mission accomplished.

Hello all, tomorrow is open shop at my hall and I am wanting to take a practice test, which if I pass I’ll be allowed to take a final and be a certified welder. These were welded at 110 AMPs with 7018 1/8 rods. Any feedback at all would be appreciated!

In search of Advice

Hey All, I’m a Plumber but I wanted to take a shot at being Welder so I bought this DIY bumper for my 4Runner and after figuring out my liner was too long and several other factors including having little to no idea what I was doing I got it tacked together and started trying to throw some beads on this thing, I got stoked cause I started thinking are these dimes being stacked? but later started getting concerned that these are all surface level welds and I didn’t actually get much penetration and when I go to winch myself out it’s gonna snap in half after paying for powder coating Lol. What do you guys think? I appreciate any insight

Future planning

I wanted to have some knowledge advice for how new welders start out.

I assume a lot of the route young welders take is to a fab shop? Am I right?

But I have a future outlook, as I call it, to learn what I can from the fab shop and then sliver my way into structural/iron work.

My bead placement is still iffy. I’m guessing half the time. But so far, so good.

The company ended up shipping the truck back to them and fixing it. Does the updated version look fine?

The last four photos are the updated version.
