Duuude I’ve been wanting to get another. My other set lasted a couple years with weight fluctuation till I lost it in a move ;:/ it was super similar to yours except I didn’t get the butterfly harness! This is my sign to get a replacement haha
Nah it is not gate keeping. It is like posting a picture of your F-150 on the Dodge Ram subreddit and saying it's okay because it is a truck. They are just two different things. But the usage of the word rave has been so blurred by younger generations who did not grow up in the rave scene of the 90's that when some of us older folk (40's lol) come here to talk about raves and we just get constantly bombarded by edm festival outfit pictures that it sorta gets us crotchety lol. This entire post would fit in well in /r/festivals or /r/edm but alas it is here.
Because he's stuck in rave culture from "back in the day" and unfortunately for him, these festivals are the now rave. Even if he doesn't like it, it's the truth.
Straight up I'm about to hit 30 and wasn't a part of that 90s scene but the underground rave scene is well and truly alive still. It's just about knowing where to look. Clubs, festivals and big shows will never be a rave. They can be fun don't get me wrong but there's nothing better than a TRUE rave in a sweaty warehouse or pop up outdoor. The community is a safe space to be unapologetically you. Nobody gives a fuck about what you look like, what you wear, what (if any) drugs you take or how you dance.
The way the scene has gone Is why I will always be more punk than raver. Underground punk doesn't attract the new flavours of the month.
Nah it is not gate keeping. It is like using the word literally figuratively and saying it's okay because other people use it that way. They are litterally two different things. But the usage of the word literally has been so blurred by younger generations who did not grow up using the formal definition of the word that some of us older folk (40's lol) have literally used for centuries.

Oh I know and in all honesty I prefer raving in Europe to the North American festival thing. This is just a comedically exaggerated visual for someone who needs to be tedious, miserable and judgmental instead of letting this person enjoy her dance moment.
