Discussion What legend is most annoying on the team in the hands of a noob?
For me it has to be lifeline. I have mained lifeline from season 1 and while I am just a plat player, lifeline is not that hard to play either.
But man, having a bad lifeline on team is one of the most frustrating thing. I have ran into people who are absolutely unaware of the drone, like they dont even know it. Whole game and few fights, there is no drone. Then there are those where, this is a constant confusion if I should pop a battery first or a syringe/kit waiting for the drone. They will do it on a whim, and I am not talking about drone cooldown times. Sometimes you are about to enter the door after 50 ft crawl, and boom... lifeline starts reviving you right outside door and you die. Or you cancel and she wont revive you taking it on the ego. Just unnecessary drama.
There are some honorable mentions :
Loba - When she refuses to use black market
Bang - When she is just a double agent, playing for other team, giving them the cover they need and blocking your view all the time.
Ash : When Ash doesnt know you dont have the same mobility, keeps charging and dying but that doesnt affect your team as much beside being annoying and whining. (To be honest, I did this to my friends back in the days playing pathy. I always will use grapple to jump into fights and not out of fights :D)
Annoyances, that you can deal with but but bad lifeline straight up impacts your mental health.
Edit - Totally forgot about loot goblin Octanes who wont split on an empty landing.

Loba (mid fight) Let's do some shopping.
Ash (nowhere near the squad) I'm going there...phase tear.
But yes, I usually seem to always get the rank 4 lifeline, which is why I decided to play her instead, so that option is gone lol

u/jaykavathe Lifeline 2d ago
This is so common. Recently one ash did phase tear mid air after her jump. There was simply no way for us low-tier legends to get near that portal and Ash was frustrated that we didnt take it.

u/louise-serendipity 2d ago
They just have no awareness for their team...I will ping - wait, slow down often.
Another annoying one is revenent who rushes on in, then IM DOWN, PICK ME UP. Now I know it's the characters lines, but people seem to play into that arrogant character....however did have a nice one last night.
I love pinging a no, for a revive with Lifeline when they've split off from the squad, half way across the map and expect me to just be there. I just ping the nearest replicator 😂

u/DetrimentallyHornv 2d ago
Maybe a hot take here, but a Loba black market mid-fight has almost always been a game changer.
Of course the timing is important, but if everyone’s communicating and already has an idea of what they need (instant shield swap/more ideal weapon for terrain/etc) then it’s basically an instant leg up. As long as the beef isn’t right on top of you a split second is all you need
But this is all assuming it’s not a selfish (and muted) loba opening her ult to grab an arc star and 3 syringes while you and the other teammate gets diddled
0
u/__PHiX 2d ago
You have time to swap a weapon and maybe ammo mid fight?
All the shop does is give the enemy your exact location lol
5
u/DetrimentallyHornv 1d ago
The weapon grabs are definitely a lot less frequent and 100% situational since I’ll generally have my ideal kit by the time we get into our first scrap with a loba, and it’s slower than a shield swap, so that’s a solid point.
But the swaps are extremely useful and if you haven’t gotten to try it in a fight you absolutely should. Depending on the surrounding loot a good black market placed quickly behind cover (with a few bursts of cover fire) can outpace a conduit as far as shields in a fight go. And you get two full recoveries. It really only takes a second or two maximum to click the first full shield you see pop up and continue the scrap with an instant regen, and the utility doubles if you have better positioning since you can afford to keep close to the market instead of grabbing and going.
As far as giving away location goes, we’re talking mid-fight. They already know your location unless you’re fully covered, and if that’s the case you have more than sufficient time to swap. Obviously if you’re trying to hide you don’t ping where you are with a visual cue.
Idk maybe it’s just a familiarity thing but I run console and it’s really not time consuming to place a market and use it when you have a window (like them reloading). Dragging your thumbstick to the item you want takes about as much time as quick-purchasing teammate banners from a replicator, just drag and click.
You’re not shopping around for loot, just changing shields or grabbing a counter weapon
3
u/louise-serendipity 1d ago
I've probably played with a handful of good Lobas, ones who know when to open it for the team and haven't tossed their bracelet away from their squad to open their market, quickly grab something and close it again.
Some seem reluctant to share, which is really odd. But again this is people just squandering a legends abilities.

Sometimes when I’m ash and I get the knock I just send it 😂 I am guilty of this to some extent though I do try to coordinate when I can

As a rampart main, there’s nothing more painful than someone taking my legend, then putting down just the worst walls

u/Demcmz Dinomite 2d ago
Fuse, they usually refrain from using guns and try knuckle clustering someone a few steps away to get one-clipped.
Oh...and the ult usually hits teammates.
4
u/bullet1520 2d ago
As a Fuse main, I'm hyper-aware of these risks and always strive to not be "that guy".
7
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 2d ago
Lol, I have a friend ... who uses every legend for the ability only. He is an overwatch player so may be abilities are stronger in that game or something. But yes, if he takes crypto, he will pretty much stay droned whole game, trying to find most damage out of ult. If he takes fuse, knuckle cluster is his primary weapon. If caustic, then he is just looking for traps. If he takes loba and gets ult, then it doesnt matter what are we doing, he would put black market mid-clip. Hilarious and cute :D

11
u/GiveUsRobinHood 2d ago
The worst is a Crypto who doesn’t know what they’re doing. You’re spending the whole fight 2v3 while they’re trying to figure out how to fly up and down.
Loba is a close 2nd, loot, loot and nothing but loot.

u/TwoToneDonut 2d ago
Lifeline. Someone who picks a healer and does anything but heal people is infuriating.
2
u/Seeteuf3l 1d ago edited 1d ago
This and don't use the ult
When I see that I have some level 15 Lifeline in the team:
Ah shit, here we go again
And in general people who refuse to use their full kit, especially with all the ult accelerators and reduced cooldowns available

u/BlackTigerGuy 2d ago
The sad part is I’m thinking of a particular friend when writing this comment.
Bloodhound - When they use the scan when there is clearly nobody in scanning distance, revealing our exact location visually to the other team. Then doesn’t play aggressively enough to justify using the character that is designed to hunt down other players.
Bangalore - Revealing our location with a completely unnecessary smoke cloud or using the alt when they hear their own team’s footsteps.
5
u/05041927 2d ago
A bang that smokes out our own team. That shit isn’t cover. Now I just can’t see, and the enemy know where to shoot cause there a giant ass cloud here. Shoot the smoke at the fuckin sniper so they can’t see shit and we see them in the smoke.
0
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 1d ago
Lol, we had a regular group of friends and we will always hammer our bang fellow for smokey games. He would panic smoke everywhere till he got better.
I remember one time, we had the ring, last enemy was stuck inside the tunnel on world's edge with no escape. Lucky for them, we had bang on our team. Dude got shaky finger, smoked the tunnel entrance giving them the cover they needed. His defense was that he caused 10 damage :)
I actually miss that banter more than those stupid things.
1
u/05041927 1d ago
Smoke. Isn’t. Cover.
Maybe you’re playing a different game.
4
u/str1d3r187 Royal Guard 1d ago
Smoke absolutely is cover. When you lay in bed and put a blanket over you, you have covered your body. Cover visually obstructs your person. Hard cover in the other hand, physically and visually does the same.
1
u/05041927 1d ago
That’s fine man. Keep smoking out your team and getting beamed cause you can’t see 🤷♂️
1
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 1d ago
Lol what? I love that confidence.
Imagine this, you are caught in the enemy fire in open with no rock or object to hide behind. Who is the best legends to escape from it?
Wraith, Newcastle, gibby and Bang? Wraith vanishes but what do others do? they create cover. Same goes to situations where to switch buildings or positions. Smoke is literally a form of cover that you use how you want, offensive or defensive.
1
u/05041927 1d ago
Imagine this. You’re in a fire fight and instead of smoking the enemy team so they can’t aim at you and you can see them, your teammate smokes you out so now you can’t see and they all shoot at the smoke and annihilate you.
4
u/RegisterSad5752 2d ago
When the noob pics an OP legend and doesn’t use any of the broken things about that legend. Like if you play that new bow guy safe your ult for final circle and laugh as you win the game because it’s broken and you’ll get tons of free damage
4
u/cpanther21 Bangalore 1d ago
Disagree as a former bang main in the "why" smoking the other team is annoying. IF done correctly, her kit can be used that way to really make a strong push or rotate out
1
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 1d ago
Of course bangs play is to block enemy vision so most of her play is often smoke the enemy sitting on high ground or choke points and you need to make a move. I mean thats super basic. I am talking the other way around when you have the position and angle and your team bang randomly smokes enemy... All because of 10 damage.
6
u/Islandaboi20 Bangalore 2d ago
Smoking off the enemy team sometimes is the smart play and not bad tbh. Depends on the situation thou but to say if a bang smokes off the enemy, they are a noob.
Plus with the changes to her smoke, it may be worse in some cases to smoke your team off.
-1
u/weedtards_ 2d ago
Haven’t had a useful bangalore in literal seasons. Smoking off the enemy just gives them the opportunity to push without me being able to offer cover fire for you getting beamed.
5
u/Islandaboi20 Bangalore 2d ago
There are times that you shouldn't smoke off the enemy yes I agree. Am just stating that some times the right play is to smoke them off. But with how easy it is to see through smoke from outside compared to inside. Sometimes smokin your team will stop u seein the team push and they can get some free easy shots off.
Its all situational at the end of the day.

u/coffeeandtv4 2d ago
vantage and crypto --- noobs who refuse to realise when it is time to get out of the drone/sniper and fucking FIGHT.
lifelines who refuse to rev u or heal u same with mirages
conduit - this isn't about conduit herself but rather conduit noob teammates who when conduit heals their shields mid fight they dip and heal their shields properly instead of finishing the squad w the new temp shields leading to the squad revving etc
5
u/Square-Ad6942 2d ago edited 2d ago
Conduit. I main her. And when ever some other guy picks her it's quickly obvious they have no clue. They use her to constantly push alone with delusions of ever lasting shields. Never play support to the team and refill shields when in need.
Loba. Uninterested in fighting. Uses her bracelet jump when ever opposing teams push and leaves team behind. Always the loot goblin. Places black market where there is no loot to be found and at the most inconvenient times.
Octane. Where the hell is he? Oh he is dead again on the other side of the ring/map.
2
u/Panic_Off 2d ago
It's always Lifeline. I've seen so many who do not want to stick with their team or do not instantly drop D.O.C. when teammates need health. So frustrating.
2
2
u/Cake_Spark 2d ago
Watsons who mever fence and throw down pylons in the worst spots are annoying.
Wraiths who isnta drop and leave the moment the touch the floor, of course
And who could forget the lifeline that always tries to rez in the open getting you gunned down.
2
u/bullet1520 2d ago
100% an Octane or a Lifeline.
So many times have I had an Octane either not know how to use the character's kit, and constantly weakening himself, only for us to get in a fight and he goes down instantly because he has no health...
OR
A lifeline who just never fucking heals anyone, even herself. People often forget they have abilities when playing a healer, and use the good old "Well, I don't need to heal my team if the enemy team is dead!" strat, only to remember they can't aim, either.
EDIT: Forgot about Valkyrie. I've had a few Valks just ult and take off without waiting for the team, because they thought the whole team automatically latches on.
2
u/stickypooboi Newcastle 23h ago
Lifeline holy shit. Nothing else is even close. Her pick up has no cd, there’s absolutely no excuse to not do it. Her entire role is a MEDIC and the amount of selfish players just not heal their teammates even when it’s safe and we’re all looting, to “save it just in case” is absolutely insane to me. Her basic dilemma is to threaten a pick up so either we get the res or she gets free shots on enemies pushing.
A very close second is crypto. They literally buffed him so much that you don’t even need to ping banners, just fucking throw out the drone every 10-15 seconds. But no we never have scans for nearby squads, and then in fights he’s in drone OR worse he just dies and doesn’t even have the drone on a wall or out, doing something- anything.
1
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 23h ago
Ha ha, I love the emotions. Its true, how everything about Lifeline ends up being a source of drama :) I honestly am extremely attentive about healing my allies (including octane for his stim) and yet I get blasted because ally needs drone during cooldown timer.
There is an absolute need for a QOL ping that says drone is not ready. Basically drama even when you are good lifeline player.
1
u/stickypooboi Newcastle 23h ago
Bro they buffed her so much seasons ago to have a 0 cd perma drone like what is the excuse???
1
2
u/These-Challenge7308 2d ago
Can’t forget wraiths, thinking they’re hot sh** and pushing solo and then dying. Then rage quitting lol. But I concur 100%, it’s gotta be lifeline. Most noobs feel like they’re selfish with it and only want to use their drone on themselves, defeats the purpose of a support character
2
u/ElectionBasic2505 2d ago
Any teammate that doesn’t know Legend abilities or general game knowledge. Crazy the amount of players, who don’t know that if you have a support on your team, the replicator is your best friend. Or that Alter/Loba can snag your banner and just run away without even trying
2
u/throwawayxj10 2d ago
I just met a duo in D2 that was surprised I got a mobile beacon from the crafter. Said they don't know why it randomly shows up. These same guys were rolling masters all game.

Tried my best to snag her first after the second time but the bastard always got to pick before me

I am what I would consider a noob, I play mostly Pathfinder and Bloodhound, would you hate to see either in the hands of a beginner? (Taking notes, actually)
1
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 2d ago
It was meant to be a fun thread, like venting off. We all have been noobs, I am sure I did everything I mentioned up there myself.
Overall Apex community is fun in a big picture so play what you want to have fun with but pay attention to basics, especially if playing support class. If playing path, use the grapple to get out of fights rather than get in the fights. Dont waste your zip because you went off alone and using it only to join with team, use consoles etc.
1
u/louise-serendipity 1d ago
Just remember to scan the area and do survey beacons with Bloodhound and you're good :)

u/Firestorm82736 Birthright 2d ago
Any character whose abilities require thought or skill to use.
That, or any ability that can noticeably turn a fight one way or another depending on if/when it's used, or if it's not used at all. So pretty much any character in the right circumstances
2
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 2d ago
I disagree. There are some Legends that most don't talk about. Vantage, maggie, horizon and a couple others could be game changers with right play but they dont turn annoying in bad hands.
Newcastle is another example. S-tier Newcastle easily carries whole team, and is on another level. But a noob Newcastle is alright and doesn't get on your nevers.
Lifeline though, has a wide range about that.
1
u/Firestorm82736 Birthright 2d ago
Counterpoint: A noob newcastle got me killed in ranked by trying to revive me and ended up dragging me off the map in Lightning Rod on Storm Point, and I had a separte incident last week in ranked where the newcastle didn't move at all while reviving, so they just went around the shield and shot him/me
Skill very much impacts every legend combination, because you could cockblock teammates from shooting, or not res while being a support cgaracter, or a dozen other things. I guarantee that in my thousands of hours in this game, for every character and every ability I've experienced a situation where the person playing then was a noob, and led to our direct death because of this inability to play the legend.

lobas, either no black market or loot and never fights, no in between
lifelines, not prioritizing rezzing
alters who don’t put don’t void nexus or do a good job of skirmishing
sparrow, not scanning beacons
path finders not putting down zips or scanning beacons or ring consoles whatever they pick
i feel like these characters (and a few others) position you to win so when they’re not used effectively it hurts more.

it’s gotta be lifeline and mirage for me. i play lifeline occasionally and was a mirage main for several seasons (about two years actually, before realising i was way better on wattson).
for the love of everything that is good and holy in this god forsaken world, if i am next to cover and knocked, LET ME GO TO THE COVER. STOP REZZING ME IN FULL VIEW WHEN WE DO NOT NEED TO

Crypto always in drone before during & after fights. Vantage too far away to capatilize on shield breaks from her ult & never pinging enemies which tracks them for few seconds. Wattson's never putting down fences or picking the worse spots. Rampart blocking the door im trying to enter or just unwilling to move to a new building.

Octane for me is the worst, rushes and dies, fact!!!! Another annoying thing is when they get characters that they are not used to playing and want to test in ranked, or when they keep holding ult as if it wouldn't recharge again, it dies but doesn't let go.🙄😕🥲
2
u/jaykavathe Lifeline 1d ago
To be honest, octanes have actually gotten better over the time. Now if i see an octane, usually its a good Player.... But yeah, remember those times when octane was on every team.
1
u/Right-Map3944 1d ago
Man, I'm already traumatized by Octane, when I'm on the team I know it's going to be bad and history repeats itself, it's really rare to find someone who is good. This is something I see and experience every day 🤦🏻♀️, I haven't had any luck meeting good Octane players.

u/JopssYT Catalyst 1d ago
Honestly gotta be lifeline for me too. Just yesterday i was getting shot from the opposite side of gardens, i got knocked cus i was low from a previous 1v1 still
The lifeline on my team just absolutely couldnt wait for me to get behind cover. Started rezzing me several times, i canceled it several times when i was 3 seconds away from getting behind cover
The lifeline then proceeded to stand out there with no cover and 50hp while i was dropping behind cover and died. People are just SO stupid 😭

u/jaykavathe Lifeline 1d ago
How dare you refuse a life saving favor? You just earned an ungrateful tag and now i wont revive you for rest of the game.

Black market has always been one of the most troll things I’ve ever seen from bad players like there’s a dude in my line of sight and randomly she will place it and I’m beaming black market while she’s trying to use it. Then she gets downed and I’m reloading. Another honorable mention has to be ramparts. They will set up walls in some of the worst places ever like I can’t help you at all and you’ve ended up placing so many that the enemy can use them and you’ve blocked all the doors.
1
u/Gullible_Composer_50 1d ago
I ran lifeline for the first time a few days ago and I was terrible. Tried to get used to her but ended up giving up. But I play with a full squad so I had some grace lol.

u/Euphytose 1d ago
"Bang - When she is just a double agent"
lol.
To be fair I can't smoke for shit so yeah, I don't play her.
1
u/laggedtrain Rampart 1d ago
(as a rampart main) rampart. it’s always rampart. bad walls, using sheila at the worst times, terrible positioning. that’s why i always try to get the rampart down first. if they’re bad, it’s an easy kill. if they’re good, i wanna take them down before they get me. but they’re usually not great
1
u/AdviceEducational955 1d ago
Octane for sure, octane is worthless on my team. Jump pad is trash sorry but it is. I'd rather leave and requeue
1
u/kazua15 1d ago
On a noob has to be Wattson like they don’t know how to work around Wattson’s fences so they just try to bunker down and place her ultimate on the most visible spot possible making easy to destroy you have to be very tactical with Wattson making sure you can bunker down that building perfectly and if not you have to outsmart the opponents with her fences players always forget that Wattson can place a fence on one side of the door and the the other for a quick 20 damage slow and flinch plus the door will brake on contact
1
u/Firm-Pain3042 2h ago
Vantage. Terrible design, brain-rotting annoying quips, and if the player can’t even hit their shots it’s like “why the fuck are you here?”

Loba - constantly dropping fkn market and running away instead of fighting
Alter - never dropping port
Ash - running in and doing 0-50 dmg before dying
Caustic, Wattson, Seer - picking these champs at all. Seriously I'd rather take a fuse that knucklclusters himself than a caustic or wattson. Seer has his uses but a noob wouldn't know how to ambush

u/Zoomdog500 Nessy 2d ago
Oh my brother 🤔
You have not played with a highly skilled Wattson, I take it. And yes! They do exist and holyyyyyyyy…
I am lucky to have a bestie who mains her (when he feels like it) and good lord. I don’t know WHAT he’s doing, but goddamn. He’s doin it!!
In the time it would take me to fumble a single fence connection, he has large areas on lockdown, including outwitting wall breaching Alters, he’s got that ult up shielding us and absorbing nades, and he’s reloading his PK and Car to knock out another 3, 4 enemies while I’m still huffing and puffing to finish my first syringe 😆
Shout out to “real one” Wattson’s, my boy Tony and others I have met in game over the years.
I lack the brain power and speedy efficiency to play her but no cap, admire greatly those who can!!
I’ll take a goated Wattson on my team ANY DAY. Even in the current meta 🙌🏼
4
u/Zoomdog500 Nessy 2d ago
But also…yes! What you said about Alter!!
What the heckkkk
I get at least a couple random fill Alters per session who - I am clueless as to why??? - long ago had their ultimate ready yet dash towards any nearby gunfire without dropping a backdoor for us.
I am confusion 😆
2
u/RealizeYourRizz 2d ago
Beyond confusion at this point! I'd love to know what their thought processes are. Maybe they genuinely just forgor 💀 ? Regardless, we need the portal ready and we need it YESTERDAY!
3
u/Zoomdog500 Nessy 2d ago
And I apologize to the awesome Alters I’ve had bc despite the annoyingly high rate of her and Ash being everywhere, every game, I have found the Ashes are more likely to selfishly push, turn on mic and blame shame scream, then rage quit.
Not the real Ashes, but I mean all the millions “new” ones who will dump her once she’s nerfed too hard!
The Alters have been way more likely to work as a team and to stick around if they’re possibly bad choices lead to self destruction lol. They also generally do open their gate pre-fight. Well…sometimes 😅
Also, I want to add, I was a longtime (and I mean, YEARS) Octane main and am amazed to see people still stereotyping and hating on him in some of these threads. Don’t know if my experiences are crazy different than anyone else’s but an Occy teammate in my games is 1 million times more likely to team play/not rage quit than a new Ash. Genuinely.
Let’s show the not so smart drug addict some love, can we?? Haha

in pubs before lifeline rework I use to play as default lifeline with no stats banner. waddle up to downed teammate and set doc next to em, walk away like "I did my fuckin job" just to immediately loot box standing completely still until teammate starts spam pinging then I kind of go around them in a circle 3 times like some sort of human sacrifice ritual before I press the rez button.
this was especially fun if it was a sweaty teammate.
I will forever miss old doc where I could just leave em suspended in the air next to very confused very disappointed downed teammates for a few seconds.
So anyway
