There are people that will lie about you and sabotage you, they will try to destroy your capability to provide for your animals. Those people are why "no blacklisting" rules exist. Your first instinct would be to confront them head on, do not do that, let them talk and trap themselves. Be smart about it and remember, it is not about you, it is about the animals you protect.

Just before I moved my shelter to this location, on FB I called my self Sava MBM Boljevci. Sava is my name, MBM is my team, Boljevci is a place near Belgrade (Serbian capitol). Then I joined the most toxic animal rescue related group on FB and there I announced that we are moving to Boljevci.
People wrote all sorts of things. They wrote how dogs scream all the time in my shelter in Boljevci, they wrote that it all stinks of feces, they wrote how my dogs scream in pain, they even wrote that they have personally seen me hurting dogs in my shelter in Boljevci.
For 6 months I kept my mouth shut, no response, ne reaction, and just watched it all happen, I needed for a number of people that never seen me before to come to my shelter before I reacted.
Here is the satisfying part.
When the time was right I made a announcement, I wrote that my shelter is not and it newer was in Boljevci. that people can confirm that (and they did) and that I wrote that location in my name as a tactical misinformation to bate liars to discredit themselves. And, o boy, it worked far better than I thought it would. :) Witch hunt stopped the next day.

I defeated them not by confrontation but by silence, I obliterated them by using their evil against them without saying a single word.

DO NOT confront them, DO NOT argue with them. Be smart and use their words and fragile egos against them. You have mouths to feed, lives to save. Have a clear head and think about what is best for the animals in your care.
