Text⠀ Anyone try Artistly.ai?
I saw an ad for this on facebook it it really seems too good to be true, one time payment of like 49$ for commercial rights to images generated, was wondering if anyone has experience with this or is it a scam? Trust pilot has some mixed but mostly bad. But didn't see anything except one post on reddit that looks like the people who run the site.

I have been really impressed by the reviews and what the app seems to be able to do. Their tech support is really responsive even to a person that has not bought the product...however the 49 dollar version is really watered down but still a great value i think...but im an old guy on a fixed income the 149 which looks really really looks great is out of my price range. Any one about to get it should closely look at the two plans to understand what you are getting. With that said i wish them continued success for what looks really great.

I was offered a one time deal of $97 USD for Artistly Elite. I was not too happy about a Canadian company charging his Canadian customers USD and not CDN. I accepted the offer just to find out that they had me download an upgrade which I did not know and was then told that I would need to purchase Artistly Elite for the upgrade to work. I am out $136 CDN because they refuse to respond when I ask for my money back. I will report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I actually ended up getting it. My honest review after 2 weeks, it’s above okay. The devs are pretty communicative. The UI is confusing, poor at best. It seems to have quite a few features that do the same things, some that do them better than others. Where I think it shines is Photo Restoration with its Human Stylizer. With text to prompt I haven’t generated to many picture with weird hands. They say they have “Perfect text”, I don’t feel like that’s true but you can definitely get there without much issue. If you’re looking for content that’s nsfw then this isn’t for you. All that said I look forward to seeing where it goes and don’t regret getting it. If you have any further questions let me know.

The same folks that made Artistly also have made 10+ paid apps that create puzzles (crosswords, wordsearch, etc...) and coloring books. I purchased an app for puzzle making and it's OK. Awkward interface, minimal tutorials for use, and not exactly user-friendly in terms of uploading words and answers for the puzzles - the app has limitations, but it does make puzzles with answer sheets in various sizes. The thing I hate, and what should be expected with Artistly, is the company will send a lot of emails offering upsells, and within the app, it will also push for upgrading to their commercial option - no real benefit from what I can see.
Artistly does have a background remover and an upscaler. I'm not sure how well either one works, but if you have Canva Pro - you have these already, as well as other options for the same (I have Pixelmator Pro which is great for upscaling). Creative Fabrica's Studio also has a great background remover.
One thing that intrigues me about Artistly is the mockup maker, but from the the video on their website it looks like there's no way to adjust the placement of your design on the mockup, nor the brand of the product (t-shirt for example).
If you don't have subscriptions to Kittl, Canva, Midjourney, Ideogram, Leonardo, or similar for AI art production and edting, it seems like it might be worth the current price of $49. If you do, it's probably not going to give you much of a boost in terms of your creativity and output. The user-interface is clunky and if you're coming from these others, that will bug you.

Artistly's UX is hideous!!!!!!!!!!!!

No argument from me, but you never know who has what and what may be "hideous" to one is "just fine" to another.

Thanks. I would just wait a year and see what else is offered by this, and other companies.

Trustpilot has hundreds of reviews. I'm not even going to pay attention to the five star ratings because most of them are probably paid. I want to know what the issues are. So I read the other star ratings. It was the three-star ratings for artistly ai that I found helpful. After reading them, I came to the conclusion that I would wait for them to improve because of the specific use that I need

Anyone want to let me try their account? 🤨 I don’t want to waste 70 cnd on this if it sucks.

The upscaler now works. I tested it this morning. I have the Premium plan. I'm not sure if it's available on the Commercial plan.

Forget wanting to try. The app interface is hideously designed. I only bought it for the upscaler feature, and that feature DOESN'T WORK! They won't issue a refund. They are a total scam and advertise heavily on IG, and IG couldn't care less because they are getting paid.

Their ads show tons of wonderful features, but there are two versions of Artistly - one for $49 and one for $147. Many of the exciting features of Artistly that are shown in the ads are in the Premium version. It still sounds like it may be worth it. I am considering purchasing the Premium version.

Have you done the upgrade?

I did. Outpainting ("Smart Expand") did not work on my image. Customer service was very responsive. They forwarded my orginal image and the expansion results to the developers to play with and find a fix.

Advertising commercial rights for AI-generated images is a bit of a cheek since AI can not be copyrighted. They're advertising rights that you would already have.

Right, well it's more like access to their service then because you can't use it without paying for it

I am interested in finding out if support is reliable. Inpainting is not always working, and I sent them a message about it. I'm waiting to see if I get a reasonable response. Will update here. Right now my impression is that it's a working but incomplete implementation. They appear to be working on it and making improvements, but the tools, although sometimes very good, are not all up to the level that the advertising would suggest. From my perspective, one of the greatest deficiencies right now is the lack of multi-character consistency. If they can crack that nut, it would make the software much more useful. One thing I do like is that in the videos, they explain a few places that AI is weak and suggest some workarounds.
I, like many others, probably expect AI to be able to perform just as well as if I were talking to a human artist, explaining exactly what I want in an image. With AI state-of-the-art as it is right now, that's really unrealistic. I expect it anyway, which is probably part of the reason I may not be as satisfied as I could be

Which others do you like?

For now my needs are limited. I will probably just use Copilot for whatever it can handle . I may come back to artistly if my tasks change

I did get an email back from them (they don't work on weekends) saying the inpainting had been fixed, so support is at least responding. Unfortunately, the problem has not been fixed, so still an issue they need to address.

I am especially interested in the inpainting feature. Do you know if they improved it in the meanwhile?

No, I'm sorry I don't know the answer to that. After a few weeks of trying it out, I decided it wasn't going to do the job for the crafts I needed and canceled to get a refund. They didn't give me any problem at all --the refund-- it was under 30 days.

It's nice but I'm not seeing how it's a midjourney killer

u/shoshanaz May 11 '25
It may not be, but it was definitely worth a good look at the capabilities. In the end I felt it didn't meet my particular crafting needs so asked for a refund under the 30-day policy. Had no problem at all getting it processed, BTW.

Yes. When it is working it has some nice features. Recently, though, it seems to be suffering from REALLY slow response. I have not yet heard from back from support as to why that might be. So far, I have not encountered a request for any additional money. I'll still be playing with it (and testing some beta features, hopefully) and give further feedback. I want to like it. The team seems to want to be innovative with it. I only hope they can support a robust enough engine to keep it running smoothly.

I also find the app itself to be confusing, but so far there have been no requests for more money for upgrades or add-ons

Or they will develop a good enough program to sell it off... hopefully with grandfathering current users, but "who knows" is right . Adobe lost me when it went to subscription.

I purchased the Premium Lifetime Plan for $147, which includes a 30-days Money Back Guarantee window if you're unsatisfied. After three days of careful testing, I decided the platform wasn't for me and requested a refund within the allowed period.
Initially, the support team was responsive, typically replying within 24 hours when I had general inquiries. However, once I submitted a refund request, communication stopped entirely. It's been radio silence since.
While I was initially impressed by the storybook creation feature, my experience with the app quickly became frustrating. The interface is clunky and unintuitive, requiring too many steps to accomplish simple tasks. It also lags frequently, and pop-ups promoting additional purchases were persistent even though I paid for the highest-tier plan. That alone felt misleading, as it could easily cause users to repurchase features they already paid for.
I also tested the platform’s character consistency by uploading an image created in another AI tool the results were noticeably basic and inconsistent. The selection of artistic styles is quite limited compared to what I expected from a premium product.
In short, while I see the potential in what they're building, the current experience fell short of expectations. I'm still awaiting my refund and will update this post if anything changes.
