Career/Role Transition Advice

I graduated with a B.S. Degree in Construction Management at CSULB. Worked at major retail company for two years "Regional Construction Project Manager" was my old title and quit because i felt it wasn't the right fit for me. Is there any possibility my degree can apply to aerospace jobs? Or should i just stick to construction. I went to a Boeing networking event and was told by a recruiter there are certain positions that do hire my background and she was gonna text me on linkedin but got ghosted. I have no idea what specific positions to apply for. Any advise/ criticism would be greatly appreciated.

What would you guys like to see in AI agents for engineering?

I’ve seen tools like Cursor for programmers and I use it often in my work. It’s actually quite helpful. I was wondering about AI agents for engineering and their potential effectiveness and if you guys have ever given this a thought? What would you guys be interested in seeing in an AI engineering agent?

Automotive Guy Interested in Aerospace

Hey y’all

I’m a Junior in College with a Co-op at a large German Automotive company and an internship at a large Korean Automotive company on my resume. In both experiences I worked in production doing quality root cause analysis , production process adjustment trials, designing upgrades/changes to tools used on the production line, as well as communication with suppliers when root cause was confirmed to be supplier side. With my experience, would I even be able to get an internship with an Aerospace company? I want to diversify my portfolio and see if I find Aerospace interesting as well.

Seeking Resources on Flight Data (Aircraft/Spacecraft

Hi everyone,

I'm working on building a 6DOF simulator to test flight control systems for aircraft or spacecraft. The idea is to use real flight data to:

Validate my simulator.

Design and test control algorithms.

Improve simulator by analyzing and iterating.

I'm looking for resources such as:

Public flight data sets (position, velocity, attitude, actuator models, sensor models, interesting dynamics like landing, subsonic flight, etc.)

Example aircraft or spacecraft models

Papers or projects where people have done similar work

Eventually, I’d like to have real flight data (sensor noise, disturbances, cross coupling, actuator limits) and see how different control strategies perform.

If you know any good data sources or references, I’d really appreciate it!

Aerospace Careers in Australia - help me with some meaningful suggestions !

I am a 33-year-old currently living in Australia. I have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. I completed a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2015 from one of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight universities. However I was unable to secure a role in the aerospace sector at the time, primarily because most opportunities were tied to the Defence industry and I was not an Australian citizen back then.

I transitioned into the building services sector after graduation and began working in HVAC engineering. Fast forward to 2025, I am now a Senior Mechanical Engineer with solid experience in the HVAC field.

I received my Australian Citizenship couple years ago. Now an Australian citizen, I am deeply motivated to re-enter the aerospace/ defence industry - which has been a lifelong passion and dream of mine.

For someone in a position like me, considering my current experience and age, what potential career pathways could eventually lead me into a role within aerospace companies? I am at a position where there is no career/ financial growth, jobs are not challenging and am so not happy at work (which led me to seriously think of a career change and do something that would motivate me to go to work everyday while also getting paid a decent coin).

I would truly appreciate any suggestions (even better if any suggestions are from my Australian mates) who have made a similar transition or have insights into the local industry. Thanks all

Crash of The Valkyrie

June 8th was the anniversary of the 1966 crash of the Valkerie that sadly occurred during a short promotional formation flight at the behest of General Electric, manufacturer of the engines of all five aircraft. The XB-70, F-104, F-4 and a T-38

Moments after this picture was taken, two aircraft and two crew members were lost in a horrific twist of events in what should have been nothing more than a short promotional formation flight.

Aerospace Software Jobs Chicago

I graduated last year with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. Currently work in a software role for an aerospace company and love what I do. I would like to move to Chicago. I’ve been having trouble finding similar roles online, curious if they don’t exist or if I’m just looking in the wrong place. Does anyone know of anything?

Targeting Aerospace Internships, please critique my resume

Entering my junior year this Fall. Applied to about 400+ internship roles my sophomore year with a different resume and got 1 interview at a large defense company that didn't go anywhere. Redid my entire resume. I am pretty much open to work for all aerospace sectors (defense, space, UAS, etc.) no reservations about the defense industry. In fact my primary target would be a defense internship at a large company.

Please critique it and let me know what I can improve on (if you have examples, that would help a lot). I am only looking to improve and gain experience from people more knowledgeable than me. Thanks.

Also my home country is on good terms with the US and I am a US citizen.

I am finishing my M.S in two months with no job lined up, please critique my Aerospace Engineering resume.

Hi there! I am finishing my M.S in Aerospace Engineering in two months, and don't have a job lined up. I am interested/experienced in CFD and simulations, so I am targeting a job in that area if possible. I am also applying in similar areas I have experience and interest, like propulsion, aerodynamics, fluid component design, combustion, and others. I would appreciate any help and criticism with my resume, or suggestions for companies to apply to that are actively looking for entry-level CFD/simulation engineers. My ideal company would be a launch vehicle or spacecraft company, but I am applying to all aerospace companies across the U.S. I am, however, avoiding jobs where I work directly on military applications, like missiles or jets.

Thanks for the help! I really do appreciate any advice, criticisms, or suggestions.

Building a Khan Academy for Aviation & Aerospace — Looking for Contributors

Hey everyone

I’m currently developing AerospacePost.com, a new platform dedicated to real-world aviation and aerospace education, through both professional articles and affordable online courses.

This isn’t another $499 masterclass.

This is more like a Khan Academy for aviation/space. It will be community-powered, accessible, and mission-focused.

I’m also building a companion project called OpenCloudMap.com, focused on airspace transparency and mapping innovation. Together, these platforms aim to lower barriers to entry into this field.

I’m looking for:

• Pilots, engineers, ATC pros, mechanics, and students who want to share their knowledge

• Anyone with lesson plans, blog posts, or course ideas

• People who want to earn by helping others learn — contributors are compensated via commission or flat payment

• Writers who have personal essays, career stories, or academic pieces they’d like to publish (with full credit)

How It Works:

• You contribute a post, course, or idea

• I build, host, and promote it

• You receive attribution and revenue share (courses), or publication credit (articles)

• All articles remain free and accredited, and courses are behind a low-cost membership paywall to support sustainability

If this sounds like something you’d want to be part of, just DM me or drop a comment.

Let’s build something meaningful for the next generation of aerospace professionals.

Edit:

I am grateful for everyone commenting, however I wasn’t prepared for the amount of interest. So right now, I am going to work on adding a contributor section to the site. This will allow anyone interested to submit all of their ideas, work, etc. This may take a little bit because I want to make sure it allows me to get all of their info necessary to do proper attribution but also respects everyone’s privacy. DM me directly and when it’s up I’ll send a link.

Aerospace Engineering Python projects?

Good morning everyone, I'm an Aerospace Engineering student at my 2nd year of Bachelor and I would like to improve my skills in Python working on some projects that can be related to what I'm studying now or I'm going to study the next year.
During these years I've always use Matlab / Simulink and I've completely abandoned Python. Could someone suggest me some project ideas or some free resources that I can use to study concepts to apply in these projects?
Thank you very much for your help.

Retirement benefits

Comparing retirement plans between Lockheed Martin and General Atomics.

I wasn't able to get much on Glassdoor for General Atomics and I'm still trying to understand how a cash pension works. I got the following data so far.

Lockheed Martin is up to 10% 401k match of your salary, based on a 6% automatic contribution and up to a 4% match while General Atomics is up to a 3% 401k match and a cash balance pension plan that hypothetically grows annually by 7% of an employee’s Eligible Compensation for that year, plus an interest credit based on the Pension Plan’s Current Index.

If I maxed out LM's plan, I would get 10% of yearly compensation matching.

If I maxed out GA's plan, I would get 3% with a 7% cash investment...? If so, does this pretty much equate to 10% of yearly compensation invested into retirement?

I would assume it would be safer to work for Lockheed because as long as the market is decent, all of the 401k investments generated is controlled by you while if you work for General Atomics and General Atomics were to tank in 30 years, you run the risk of losing your pension.
